Upon his death he released a final spell that separated the soul from the body of around 1-5% of the world population, causing mass death and comatose victims, known as Aporis Abjection.

-Monsignor: The shadowy and mysterious patriarch of Bastogne Manor. Very little is known about him, other than he has a group of acolytes each named after particular flowers that he colloquially refers to as “the garden”. He has sent one of them, Orchid, to Enzen to establish a base of operations to further their enigmatic goals.

-Orchid: One of Monsignor’s “flowers”, formerly known as Callak. He was the victim of his city, Vrissk, being massacred during the early years of the war against Eryx for their support of the allied kingdoms. His whole family presumed dead, somewhere along the line he ended up in the care of Monsignor.

-Qu’Len: The eldest people of Messaris. Given upright sentient forms based off the wildlife of Messaris, they would be the first settlers of the first continents that raised from the vast, endless seas.

  Glossary of Terms

-Aporia: The status caused by the medical condition known as Aporis Abjection.

-Aporis Abjection: colloquially known as “the forever sleep”, “sleeping sickness”, and “husk syndrome”.

The condition was the result of a forbidden spell discovered by Eryx, casting it in his dying moments as vengeance for his defeat by the group effort of every kingdom. 1-5% of the total world population fell under the effects of the condition, causing mass hysteria and loss amongst the peoples of Messaris.

The condition itself causes the ject to release their soul from their body, leaving the latter in a seemingly permanent comatose state. Some sleepers have awoken, their soul seemingly returned to the ject, often suffering from partial to total amnesia.

However, there are two fatal conditions that can arise from those suffering from Aporis Abjection.

  1) Their body dies if left exposed to the elements or they fell asleep in a precarious physical location.

  2) The sleeper awakes and is no longer the person they were, leading to an aggressive mutant. The two leading causes seem to either be the soul not fully anchoring within the ject, or worse; the wandering spirit of an aberration from Rasuum possesses the body and wreaks havoc on those in the vicinity.

-Ject: The anchor in each person that ties soul to body. It also acts as the focal point for mana as well as spell casting and summoning

-Ject Mutatem: When a soul and ject don’t link correctly or match, resulting in a frenzied, monstrous

  state known as Ject Mutatem.

-Mana: The (usually) invisible energy source that resides in all living things, acting as the medium to

cast spells or summon aethos. Each person is born with different sized reservoirs of mana in their ject and with training and work, any individual can increase the depth of said reservoir.
