Chapter 13: Exposing Intelligence

  The dagger struck true.

If Eric had been a normal skeleton, he would have lost his ability to fly. In a battle against succubi, losing the ability to fly would have put him in a completely passive position.

The tall succubus was confident that this intelligent skeleton would dodge.

But Eric didn't dodge. He lunged at the tall succubus, his claws digging deep into her skin as he clung to her. He didn't care at all that his bone wings had been severed. He grabbed the severed bone wings and viciously stabbed them into one of the succubus's bat wings. The succubus and Eric both plummeted towards the ground.

The succubus tried to push Eric away, but he just held on tightly, his flame-filled eye sockets staring intently at her.

  "Boom!"

With a loud crash, the skeleton and the succubus smashed into the ground.

The succubus spat out a mouthful of blood, while the skeleton broke several ribs. He grabbed one of the broken ribs and without hesitation, stabbed it into the succubus.

The tall succubus tried to dodge, but the ground suddenly turned into mud, causing her to fall again.

  "Cackle, cackle, cackle!"

  "Pffft!"

The sharp rib pierced through the succubus's chest.

  "Bone Overgrowth."

It grew wildly, piercing through her heart.

The severed bone wings had been shattered and were unusable. There were still several succubi left. Eric continued to sprint deeper into the forest.

The remaining succubi hurriedly pursued him, with the mages constantly bombarding him with spells. Now that the skeleton's bone wings had been cut off, they felt safe in the air.

But in the next moment, a white figure leaped from the ground, flapping its bone wings and lunging into the air. How did it grow bone wings again!

The succubi felt a chill run down their spines.

Upon closer inspection, they realized that the skeleton's arm bones and left leg bone had disappeared, leaving only a pair of bone wings. He had dismantled his arm bones and one leg to grow into wings!

The succubi had never experienced such a rollercoaster in their entire lives. The skeleton suddenly leaped towards the nearest one-armed succubus, turning his remaining leg's shinbone into a bone knife and flinging it out.

But this succubus was clearly prepared.

After all, with only one leg left, everyone knew the skeleton would use that leg to attack. She flapped her wings to dodge, and her other claw struck at the skeleton's spine.

But in the next moment, the skeleton took the hit, buried his head into her embrace, and then opened his mouth, his teeth becoming sharp as he bit down on her neck.

  "How is this even possible..."

Eric used the succubus's corpse as a stepping stone, kicked off with his single leg, flapped his bone wings, and lunged at the nearest succubus. He opened his blood-drenched mouth and let out a strange, cackling sound.

  "Wind Bolt!"

  "Earth Bolt!"

Two more spells came his way. Eric had to flap his wings to dodge, but the exploding earth and air currents still made his skeletal frame feel uncomfortable.

The last succubus warrior swung her claws at Eric.

  Eric kicked back.

The moment of impact sent a burst of air, and both the skeleton and the succubus were knocked flying backward.

Eric used the momentum of being knocked back to cast wind magic. His pair of bone wings changed shape, acting like sails to catch the wind and incredibly redirect his body.

Then he shot towards the mages. He had to deal with these troublesome succubus mages first.

The succubus mages flapped their wings, trying to escape. This skeleton was just too eerie, and fear had already taken root in their hearts.

Eric shielded himself with his bone wings, blocking several spells, and lunged at the nearest succubus mage. His single leg lashed out like a whip, cleanly severing the succubus's neck, and her head was sent flying.

Another stepping stone. Eric nimbly landed on the succubus's falling corpse, kicked off with his single leg, and used the momentum to charge at another fleeing succubus.

With wind magic and bone wings propelling him, he shot behind the succubus mage. His sharp, barbed teeth bit into the bat wing, and his bone wings stabbed out from behind, severing the succubus's neck.

His skeletal frame wriggled, and the missing parts began to slowly grow back.

Now, only two succubi remained on the field. One mage, one warrior.

Eric's pure white skeleton was stained with succubus blood, looking like he had just crawled out of hell.

The remaining two succubi didn't look too good. If it weren't for their master's orders, they would have wanted to flee.

What on earth was this skeleton monster? It was completely different from other skeletons.

Eric didn't want to waste time talking with these two succubi. Who knew when the pursuers would arrive.

The opportunity to escape Pound's clutches was right in front of him, and he didn't want to ruin everything now.

  Quick and decisive.

Eric flapped his bone wings again, with wind magic aiding his flight.

The mental exhaustion from using so much magic had also recovered quite a bit with the increase in Constitution and Spirit points.

The two succubi, on the other hand, were a stark contrast to his rising momentum; their morale was incredibly weak. He took a direct hit from the mage's fire curtain and lunged at the warrior succubus.

The warrior succubus was about to counterattack when Eric twisted his body, stepped on the warrior succubus, using her as a stepping stone to charge at the mage succubus.

"Get out of the way!" The warrior succubus shouted, but it was already too late.

The mage succubus only felt a flash of white light before her neck went cold. [Ding, Killed Low-Rank Demon LV12, Experience +200]

  Only one was left now.

Eric stared at the last succubus, the blue flames in his hollow eye sockets burning fiercely.

The succubus couldn't help but tremble under his gaze. Fear was uncontrollably rising within her.

"Aaaah!" She roared and charged forward, but it still didn't change the outcome.

There was no time to deal with the succubi's corpses.

Eric flapped his bone wings and flew deeper into the forest. He didn't care about the cost, and the wind magic never stopped propelling him forward. If he couldn't escape, he was as good as dead. So, there was no need to conserve magic power now.

A moment after Eric fled the scene, several dark figures flew in from the distance. Leading them was Lucia, and the rest of the succubi were all mid-rank demons, level 20 and above. Looking at the corpses on the ground, all the succubi were incredulous.

Did that skeleton do all this?

  That mindless, unremarkable skeleton?

  "He actually killed them all."

"Amazing, it really was an elemental skeleton. I didn't expect the transformation to succeed."

"And that skeleton had intelligence. I can't believe I overlooked that!"

Lucia, on the other hand, wore an excited expression.

  "Bring back that runaway pet."

  "Yes, Lady Lucia."

"Little skeleton, you can't escape my grasp."
