Chapter VIII
They came back only to see Izekiel laying on the couch, The TV’s on and there were trashes everywhere on the ground.
Seeing this, Ophelia picked up a pillow and threw it straight at him.
he woke up with an annoyed face.
Izekiel: “What’s with the sudden abuse?!” he groaned.
Valerie paid no mine to all of this. As soon as she stepped into the house, she headed straight to the kitchen. She tried to find something to eat because talking with people all day can be tiring for some toddler.
Ophelia: “Open your eyes and look at all the mess you made!” She raised her voice with every words.
Izekiel looked around for a little.
Izekiel: “I’ll clean it, for goodness’s sake.”
Valerie came back out of the kitchen and called for her mom.
Valerie: “Mom, I can’t reach the cupboard.” She says with exhaustion.
Ophelia calmed down a little and followed Valerie to the kitchen leaving Izekiel to clean up the mess all on his own.
Then came dinner time.
They were eating together when Ophelia started a conversation.
Ophelia: “Sooo, Izekiel, mind telling me what happened? Because you usually weren’t that messy of a person.” She says while her hands were busy cutting up the steak into little pieces for Valerie.
Valerie eyed the plate intently.
Izekiel: “I failed a mission.”
Ophelia drops her utensils in shock while she slowly turns to Izekiel.
Valerie immediately averts her eyes from the plate to stare at Izekiel shockingly. Even though she doesn’t really get along with him she still knows full well how thorough and careful he is in every job he does to achieve the best result possible.
Izekiel: “What?” Noticing the silence, he asked.
Ophelia instantly went to check if all his limbs are still intact because never in her 1000 years of living had she ever heard him say he failed something.
She even thought he was drunk. So, she splashed him with a bowl of water.

Izekiel: “WHAT THE HELL MOM!?” he yelled in shocked as he starts to shiver.
Ophelia: “There must be something wrong with you. Give me my son back.” She says with skepticism.
Izekiel: “It’s not like it’s the first time I failed something, stop being so dramatic.” He replied back, frustrated.
By now the food has almost gone cold so they decided to eat it and talk more after, which makes Valerie very happy.
After dinner they sat together in the living room and all kinds of question from Ophelia flooded the room.
Ophelia: “Alright tell me what happened.” Ophelia said in a stern voice.
Izekiel: “Teamwork problem. They assigned me with people that can’t even kill a low-level monster, how am I supposed to work with them?!” he was clearly annoyed.
Ophelia: “You can’t look down on them just yet Zeke. There may be other qualities of them that might be useful to you. Even though you are strong, it’s because you had years of experience and they are probably just beginning. So, try to get to know them better and try to bring out their potential.” She says calmly.
Izekiel: “The thing is I can’t even talk to them properly. They didn’t have any manner. One of them called me a rascal. And the other one is just stupid.”
Izekiel: “And to top it all off, they said I don’t look like someone who could kill a monster and I’m too weak. WEAK. ME.”
Ophelia could sense his anger rising with every words.
Ophelia: “They probably thought that because of your looks.” She says with a little proudness.
Ophelia: “You inherited my beauty, so it’s no wonder.” She sighed while her lips curved into a smile.
Izekiel: “I feel like this is turning into another session of your narcissism.”
Ophelia: “Hey you can’t just say that to your mother!”
Izekiel: “Whatever.” He scoffed and went to his room.
Valerie has noticed something wrong with his answer. The whole teamwork thing might not be the only reason.
Ophelia: “My goodness, just who exactly does he take after?”
Valerie nudged her mom.
Valerie: “Mom, I don’t think that’s the only reason.”
Ophelia: “You noticed too?” She asked.
Valerie nodded her head.
Ophelia: “To think you noticed his change in tone while still so young, you’re amazing” She praised her.
Ophelia: “He probably thought I wouldn’t noticed, but who am I kidding I birthed that child and raised him till this point. I wish he could’ve just told me the truth.” She sighed.
Seeing this, Valerie who was going to brush it off went to knock on Izekiel room just to ease her mother’s worries.
She was determined to find out the real reason and help her mom.
She knocked once. There was no answer.
She knocked for the second time. Again, no answer.
She decided to just continually knock on his door until he opens it.
Izekiel, annoyed by the continuous sound of knocking slammed his door opens.
Izekiel: “What.”
Valerie: “Mom’s worried.”
Izekiel: “So?”
Valerie: “So, go and explain the real reason to her.”
Izekiel: “What real reason?”
Valerie: “How am I supposed to know if you didn’t explain it?”
Izekiel: “Look here kid, stop being a pain in the ass and go to sleep. It’s way past your bed time.” He told her off.
Valerie: “Look here oldie, don’t make mom worry any further and spit out whatever you’re hiding in your throat. And I’m going to tell mom about how you called me a pain in the ass.” She threatened him with the exact same energy.
Izekiel: “How is your personality completely different with me than when you’re with mom?”
Valerie: “None of your business.”
Izekiel: “Ugh fine, I’ll tell mom tomorrow. Happy?”
Valerie: “Very.” She walked away.
Izekiel: “What a rude little brat.” He scoffed and went back to sleep.
Valerie being very sleepy, walks dizzily around the house. Seeing this Ophelia lifted her up and carries her to bed, while Valerie fell asleep in her mother’s arm comfortably.
