It had been four years since Linder’s first soul battle. Now, she had reached the bottleneck of Warrior Tier, finally ready to acquire her first Soul Ring to be a true Warrior Tier.
Although she once dreamed of hunting a soul beast on her own, her parents had expined that nobles had a different way of obtaining soul rings—especially their first one.
"Soul Rings determine your Soul Power, Linder. The stronger the color, the greater the boost to your abilities."
If she hunted alone, she would only obtain a White Soul Ring, like a commoner. But nobility had Legacy Soul Rings—a unique inheritance that passed down powerful soul rings to descendants. These rings contained not just power but also the will of their ancestors.
As she drifted into thought, a sudden knock interrupted her.
"Linder, dear, what are you thinking about?"
Her mother, Banitar, entered the room, followed by her father, Brandon.
Linder blinked, snapping out of her daze. "Nothing, Mother. I was just thinking about which Soul Ring I should get."
Banitar smiled warmly, then extended her hand, revealing a shimmering purple gem.
"I have your first Soul Ring, dear."
Linder’s eyes widened in shock. "Purple?! But I thought only White and Yellow Soul Rings existed!"
Her father chuckled. "Silly girl. There are more colors than just White and Yellow." He gestured toward the glowing gem. "This one, in particur, is Purple. It grants you far more Soul Power than a Yellow Soul Ring."
Linder hesitated. "But… Father, shouldn’t you have taken it instead? Wouldn’t it be a waste for me?"
Banitar shook her head gently. "No, Linder. Only you can inherit this ring."
Linder frowned. "Why me?"
Her mother’s eyes softened. "Because this is your grandfather’s Legacy Soul Ring."
Linder’s breath caught in her throat. "Grandfather’s… Legacy?"
"Yes." Banitar nodded. "And because your Martial Soul is a Control-Attack type, it suits you better than me."
She then expined, "Your grandfather’s Martial Soul was the 'Radiant Edge'—a glowing, energy-infused longsword. His Soul Skill, 'Luminous Bde Ssh,' was one of his strongest techniques. If you inherit this ring, it will greatly enhance your abilities… and even awaken a new attribute within you."
Linder gasped. "A new attribute?!"
Her father nodded. "Yes. Your soul already has both Poison and Psyche attributes. With this, you'll awaken a third: Light. Your Martial Soul will become even more unique."
After a moment of hesitation, Linder clenched her fists and nodded firmly. "I understand. I will inherit it!"
She reached out, channeling her blueish-pink Soul Power into the Legacy Soul Ring Gem. Immediately, it radiated light, melting away as a Purple Soul Ring emerged, floating in the air.
Linder summoned her Psychedelic Mushroom Martial Soul, and the ring aligned itself with it, rotating mid-air. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, preparing for the test of inheritance.
Inside Linder Mind
Linder found herself in a dark, endless void.
Suddenly, a radiant sword pierced through the darkness, illuminating the space around her.
A deep, calm voice echoed. "Are you my descendant?"
Linder took a step forward. "Yes, Grandfather. I am your granddaughter."
The voice fell silent. Then, she heard a sigh.
"Time has passed… My little girl has grown and even become a mother. How unfortunate that I could not witness it."
A moment ter, the voice spoke again.
"Very well. You will inherit my legacy."
Linder Awakens
Outside, Banitar and Brandon watched anxiously.
Brandon exhaled nervously. "Darling… do you think she will pass my father’s test?"
Banitar pced a reassuring hand on his. "She will. My father was the kindest man I knew."
At that moment, Linder’s Martial Soul glowed brightly before momentarily dispersing.
Then, she opened her eyes.
A triumphant smile spread across her face. "I did it, Father! Mother! I succeeded!"
Both of them beamed with pride.
"Tell us, dear," Banitar asked. "What Soul Skill did you inherit? And what attribute effects did you choose?"
Linder raised her hand, summoning her Psychedelic Mushroom Martial Soul—but now, a Purple Soul Ring rotated around it.
She took a deep breath. "I feel so much stronger than before… Why do I feel like I can neglect your soul power, Mother?!"
Brandon ughed. "That’s because of your Soul Power, daughter. Even though you’re still at the Warrior Tire, your Purple Soul Ring has boosted your power to the level of a Knight-Tier Soul Master."
Linder gasped. "That’s… amazing!"
