Epilogue: Not Really The End, Just the End for Now

Okay, that was kinda a lot huh? I skipped a lot of the boring crap, and the stuff I don't figure anyone needs more details on. I may not be shy, and it's fun to imagine what kinda reactions talking about what I do with my satyr could get, but it ain't as much fun, or as interesting, to talk about it as it is to do it. Still, I think I covered the important stuff. How Kiersten got her throne and how I got mine was way bigger than convincing the nobility to accept it, but I skipped all the speeches, especially ‘cause it was just the local nobles, and that all gets complicated later.

I'll prolly do that a lot as we go on too. Ain't nobody wants to read how I listened to every annoyed, self important, butt hurt person that could bring a request past all the hurdles I arranged to keep stupid crap handled without taking away from necessary things and call them out for being morons. Leading is a lot more than the exciting parts, but anyone can tell that. This is more about the legends that'll grow about us and what really happened. Now, I prolly will get into it some because now that we're here, we gotta keep it. What it took to move from a solid claim to a recognized one is kinda a big deal. That means a few things.

First off, I think I mentioned before that I'll have Genny writing her bits when I weren’t there. We're both gonna be dealing with who we was soon so there's gonna be more of that. Her past is a bitch, literally.

I'm gonna try and keep it together so the story might jump around a little to keep us kinda in sync, but I'm gonna do my best to keep it clear. Figure it's better to break it up for both of us to keep about the same time frame than to send her off, do all my stuff, have her show back up, and then tell her view.

Second, like I just suggested, there's gonna be more Court stuff coming after we deal with our old crap. Means I should tell you a little about it.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Court is mostly like a human one, where folks present to a local noble and the noble handles crap, but there's a lot of ritual and formality and pomp and struggling to stay awake and formalities and crap to deal with. Especially in a sidhe Court, and most of them are handled by those elves. One of the biggest things that makes them Courts take forever is they split themselves into a crapton of Houses and each one has its own agendas and styles on top of the personal ones. The Houses are kind of like the human noble bloodlines, with a lot less inbreeding. Mostly elves and brownnosers, usually tied by skills and family bonds and personalities. Each House tends to have strengths and weakensses and can be named for either their founder or what they do, at least as far as I've seen. There's a house of warriors that are all honor and dedication and they can almost always tell when someone lies to them. Some can even catch when you tell the truth but make it dance a little or even just leave out a detail that makes it seem different. There's another that's better at magic than almost anyone. Some are more political than others. Some are more aggressive. Some are just Seelie or Unseelie versions of larger or better known houses in the other. There's a few that'll come up a lot and I ain't even gonna try and spell them all out. I'll get into the ones I deal with as I need to. The rest won't matter much. Them two I just mentioned seem to come up a lot so I figured I'd go ahead and point them out.

All of the houses report to the High Court, and when shit gets really nasty, so do they. If you believe the sidhe they ruled in the before times, not to say that I think that’s completely the truth, and they have the right to rule now. I don’t give a wet fart about the right to rule. Only about doing it well, but you’ve already seen that.

Anyway, buckle in because things are about to get a little strange for a bit. There's a lot of weirdness and a lot of bloody looming. It's a bit of a ride, and when it's over... well... that's getting ahead of myself again, ain't it?
