Rune stood in front of a grave in the evening. Flowers laid around it, one of which he’d brought himself.

  Lullaby Brightbold.

The best sister we could’ve asked for.

It wasn’t officially her surname—she didn’t have one, but she deserved it. He wished she could’ve met their dad, that their dad could’ve met her. He wanted her back. He tried to get her back. But he couldn’t himself. She won’t come back, he had to accept that. She’d tell him to, so he could begin to heal.

Hyde stood beside him. He put an arm around his waist and his chin on Rune’s shoulder.

“I’m sure she’s at peace,” Hyde whispered.

Rune sighed and nodded. She did seem at peace when she died. She’d wanted a family, they’d given her one.

Autumn’s first flakes of snow began to fall. Hyde looked around in bewilderment, he held his hand out to catch some. They melted on contact.

Rune chuckled a little. “Welcome to the north.”
