The Ancient of Radiance stumbled backwards, unable to hold up against the relentless assault of the empowered Voidrians. Normally, it would be the simplest thing to destroy them, but he was currently in a weakened state, and their infusions allowed them to overpower him.

  Seeing no other options, Radiant turned and fled, accidentally destroying several trees in the process. Apologies, Ancient of Nature, he thought.

  Coming across a secluded clearing he deemed safe, Radiant stopped to recover. Noticing a figure, he swung his arm to eliminate the threat.

  That was the last thing he ever did.

  Jhiah was terrified. An Ancient was trying to kill him. He cast Radiant Bolt, although he knew it would be futile-

  Jhiah stared, both at the corpse and at the notification. Then he checked his status.

  Not only had he gained 266 levels from a single kill, his Species and Class had changed, his Shield had increased from a maximum of zero to 267,000 and gained a subtype, his Mana had changed into Essence with the same maximum as his Shield, and he had gained a new ability category, Ancient Capabilities.

  Checking his Skill and Spell Lists, Jhiah found an incredibly large supply of new spells, as well as a few new skills as well.

  Jhiah then decided to check the new "Ancient Capabilities" menu.
