7. The Escape

Naturally, it was not so easy for Jhiah to leave.

Naturally, there had to be a labyrinth behind the door.

Jhiah had always hated mazes. All they did was waste your time, and they usually never led anywhere important. This one, Jhiah hoped, led to an exit, which was of course and important thing for him at the moment, so he had no choice but to casually stroll through the winding halls.

Nothing truly of interest occurred. Jhiah was greatly disappointed in this fact. If you're going to have a maze, you could at least have the decency to trap it, he thought.

Despite this, he continued forwards... and right... and left... and occasionally backwards. Truly, it was a horrible thing. He eventually couldn't tolerate it, and cast Radiant Blast upon a wall... which accomplished nothing, proving Jhiah's theory that the maze was spellproofed. He sighed, and proceeded through he maze.

Jhiah had no method by which to search for an exit, and the dimensional anchor was still active, so he had no way of translocating himself.

Because of this, he hated Ni'ktul far more than he did before.

Eventually he did make his way out of the labyrinth, where he again saw the sky... and the ocean, surrounding him and the island he was on.

Jhiah knew how to swim, but not how far away or what direction the Volceln Empire was in.

So he sat on a rock.

He quickly moved to sitting on the sand, as the rock was not very comfortable, and thought about the Champion, Axvuril, he had met earlier.

If Axvuril was so powerful, could he potentially detect Jhiah's summons?

Calling out to the Hollow Champion as loudly as he could, he patiently waited... and waited...

There was, to put it simply, no response.

There were no resources withing sight, so he could not construct a raft, but he did determine a method by which he could rescue himself.

He cast Radiant Warp. It carried him far, and he kept himself above the water with his arms and legs for ten seconds before casting it again. He repeated this process to eventually find another island, this one bearing trees and mountains.

It was not so large, but it would do. He summoned his Avatars of Light, who aided him in creating a flimsy canoe to carry him across the sea.

He summoned Avatars of Light two more times during this process before setting sail, leaving them behind to populate the island eternally.

With little control over his boat and its makeshift sail, he simply rest his head against the wood and fell asleep.
