Inescapable Truth
There is a single secret that hides in plain sight
A mystery that flies above our heads just like a kite
Ever following and always lingering in the shade
Of all we are, ever since we've been made
Run down the stairs, only to find it's claws on you glued
Cross a busy street, yet you'll discover that you still fall

Prey to the machinations that within have been sewed
Covered by a thin layer of flesh, posing to be small
For we are dust, yet mighty Kings and Queens
We are Gods and Titans masquerading as Fiends
Yet the lies that to ourselves we constantly tell
Cannot conceal that which in Truth will always dwell
That we are Death masterfully disguised as life itself
Dancing in the never dimming ballroom of pretense
We wear the mask of the living like a prankish shell
Like the arm of an artful bowman, life's tether is ever tense
About to snap, about to bend
Even if all we do is pretend
For from within resides
The deadly nature that to our heart hides
So we plunder and maim and kill
Hoping to somehow our minds and hearts fill
Yet it is nothing but an inescapable sin
That Death should always call out for its kin
