The earth under the kobolds quaked, turning into a bunch of spikes that the disoriented kobolds tripped over and got impaled on. “You never want to run from wood kobolds; they often have an ambush set up that they will try to drive you into,” Sapphire said.

  After a few more minutes of waiting a group of fifteen kobolds appeared from a different direction. Most of these monsters had no tools in their hands, their sharp teeth and cws still made them dangerous. The kobolds charged howling while they ran. Sapphire transformed the earth into a line of stakes that the kobolds impaled themselves on. Two got through, A lightning bolt out of each of Sapphire’s hands took them down.“If more come I might not be able to help you in the ambush,” Sapphire remarked, breathing heavily while wiping the sweat off her face. “Come here,” Nova said.When Sapphire approached Nova the succubus took off the yellow sash on her dress then tied it around Sapphire’s forehead like a bandana.

Sapphire clung to Nova as they made their way to the demon.

  “Why did the demon call you the butcher?” Nova asked while walking.“All nobles are taught how to fight. Monsters are status blind, and since I was tall and robust from a young age the temple padins took me in. I was their pet project due to my prior training. They had me killing monsters right away. They also groomed me for leadership since I had a strong foundation in schorship and etiquette.

  “I’m not a butcher like you were,” Nova said as she buried Beornia’s spear into the ground. “You were indoctrinated as a child to kill demons. You were forced to kill a defenceless demon when you were twelve. You have the strength to overcome your past and be a force of change in this blighted world. Become my subordinate, join me we can rid ourselves of a world that turns children into soldiers,” Nova offered, extending her hand.Beornia nodded, relief showed on her face as the burden from her past lightened. She grasped Nova’s hand with both of her hands. Her face contorted in shock as Nova wrapped her tail around the padin’s cold mail hauberk, and lifted her up. Nova grabbed Beornia’s cheeks and kissed her lips to seal the alliance. Beornia greedily kissed Nova back. Nova gasped in surprise at how passionately her new padin devoured her. Beornia’s hands grabbed Nova’s horns holding her in pce. Beornia eventually got a hold of herself and extricated herself from the succubus’ grasp.
