Snow filled the starry skies when the moon was just centred. Stars gazed down as they hunted once again past their old lives into the beautiful prairies of the heavens.
Peace.
It was on the great acres of farmland, where even the fearful rats were sleeping when a chill shivered down the bones of two young cats. They were curled together in a bale of hay. One was grey and fluffy, another was black and sleek. In union they purred softly, but remained awake by an inch. The chill crept into their bones and so they were awoken from their tiredness.

The two cats looked at each other sleepily, and saw the night sky, and heard the croaking of crickets; and the creeping of ants. And so they saw among the great trees in the forest, a pair of barn owls, flying around each other playfully and hooting with joy; and perhaps laughter. The two toms looked at the owls - and then at each other, they were free here; away from trouble, it was just the two of them.
And so the black tom purred ‘They mate for life’, as they came within a centimetre of each other.
So snow filled the starry sky.
