/Showdown/ #36 Doktah And Detective Display Their Prowess

  Rufti's eyes narrow slightly.

  "A doctor? What's that?"

Doktah smiles a light curve, csping her fingers horizontally across her face!

"You see. It is a most ancient and venerable profession. In the ancient past, doctors would heal patients of ailments and diseases."

The clear-cut expnation only confused the grey-haired Prinz even more. Now however, Doktah has caught the grey-haired tomboy's attention.

  "Basically, a Sharrynist priestess??"

Under those fingers, Doktah's curve turns right upside down! Shaking her head uncontrolbly while sucking in air like Rufti had puched her in the gut,

  "No. Not a priestess."

"Then what exactly do you heal?"

"I. Heal ailments of a magickal nature."

  "Magickal?"

Magickal ailments are quite a common thing in the New Continent. While the New Continent is a wonderous and magickal pce, the use of magick is still rather dangerous to the uninitiated! The risk of blowback in overusing or misusing one's magick often leads to diastrous consequences! As your small and cute narrator found out this morning! Madness of the mind and debilitating physicals are soon to follow!

There was something odd about that statement.

Magickal illnesses arise from use of magick.

Magick on the new continent is naturally raw and chaotic.

Even a child on the New Continent knows that.

So ailments came in a myraid of forms, their treatment as impossible as the magick performed...!

That was why even the [Church of Sharryn] could not y complete cim to such a feat!

Yet... Here was someone who cims to be able to do so!

If not a liar or fraud, then she is...

"No, I mean, what does that have to do with my troubles??"

A pertinent question! Rufti is indeed troubled by [La Monarquía's] morning confession, but the palcipitations of her heart, are not problems of a magickal nature, are they?

"Hei. Could it be that you are worrying about something, or someone?"

That statement took my ft-brained Watson by complete surprise! How did she know?! Unable to conceal her emotions at all, Rufti now looks upon this odd groomer with a sort of predictive reverence!

To an experienced Usodo practitioner however, that was just a leading statement! Its kind of like horoscopes where they give you a whole bunch of vague assumptions about you so that you zero in on the thing that fits you the best! What else could a worry be about, if not about a something, or a someone! Don't even get me started on those four-letter JQKA personality tests!

  Daga...

  Rufti doesn't think this way!

My Watson probably doesn't think at all!

"... Well, you see, someone close to me confessed to me today."

Doktah nods from behind her csped fingers. There it was. She was worried about a person. Now, the logical conclusion was that this person is in some ways 'different' from her. This makes predicting Rufti's thoughts all the more easier!

Rufti continues, head looking down while circling an invisible 'eight' on the table!

"But I don't think I am ready...? There's also the issue of our status---"

"I see. A problem of magickal incompatibility. Then I have what you need."

  "You do?"

"Yes. Look closely into this hand."

The '''good''' Doktah raises her hand in a 'five', right in front of Rufti.

"If the object of your affection is of a lower social css---"

"Hang on, she's not some common peasant---"

"I see. Thank you for correcting me. Hei. If the object of your affection is of parasocial interests---"

"Nonononono, it has nothing to do with one-sided love!"

  [SFX:SLAM]

Even Doktah had to get angry at this completely empty-headed idiot! This mark was of such average and middling intellect, but her troubles had to be so out there! This grey-haired Prinz was ruining the cold reading with her stupidity! Weezing air through her teeth while grinding her mors, the '''good''' doctor is now 200% mad!

"Fine. What troubles do you have?! Is one of you secretly into little boys or something?!"

  Rude.

That is NOT your small and cute detective's fetish.

I am into intellectuals, thank you very much!

Doktah is firing off random torpedos into the nether, but somehow that one hit! Shock gzes across Rufti's face, indicating a direct hit on the battleship on B7!

  "Seriously. That was it??"

  "It... its close."

Burying her hand in her hands, more yabai and steamy thoughts float into the scene--- STOPPU! What are you imagining, you danged Watson?! I have a perfectly healthy and normal body, does small and cute not register in your horse-headed brain?! This is what a normal human looks like! Why am I ft as a boardo in your imagination, Rufti de Galopiiiiiiin---?!?!

"Do--- do you think that's a magickal problem?"

"It is." Confirms the Doktah, feigning competence in magickal affairs with confidence! Don't think that you can get away with everything just because you look confident! Sometimes, things are NOT what you think!

From your detective's perspective, this is NOT a magickal problem! At the very least, your detective can expin this sheeto with non-magickal and non-conspiratorial reasoning...! This is purely a problem of one-sided delusions! Just wait till your detective gets here, she'll clear all this up in the time it takes aFusō Ironcd[1] to clear the docks! Which is instantaneously!

Having caught onto a single corner of the problem's coattail, the '''good'''' Doktah scribbles in scrawled nguage on a notepad on the patio table! With intensity of one drawing a potato chip and EATING it under heavy surveillence, mad prescriptions are drawn up with the fervor of a shinigami writing names for a Dxath Notx!

  "XXXXXXXXXXXisthestronginterestinshoutasperhapsarisingfromachildhoodtraumaitisalwaysachildhoodtraumayesthatsiteatyourheartoutFrexdJungwasafraudIsaiditthereforetheproperprescriptionisexposuretherapyofthehighestorder---"

  [SFX:RIIIP]

Ripping out the bottom of the page from her Malpractice Note, she holds the prescription up for Rufti to see!

"In order to cure your heart, here is the doctor's prescription. What do you think?"

Rufti takes the haphazardly torn paper with both hands, squinting her eyes at the squiggly writing, only finally making it out with some difficulty.

"Doktah, there must be some error..."

Rufti tilts her head at an angle, trying to see if the wording would change if she read it another way,

"You want me to be a contestant on a 'Reality Orb Show'???"

"How are we even going to find the grey-haired brat, Madison?"

"「shimapannai」[3], Annalie! We'll just break down every pizza store in the area and..."

  "STOOOPU! STOOOPUUUUUU!!!!"

  Current Time.

We now swap right back to the adventures of channer girls exposing conspiracies! Madi-san was about to lead Annalie and me on a wild goose chase down the streets of New Coimbra, but I was having none of it!

  Rationality!

  Reason!

  Deduction!

The camera pans up from my clenched fists near my cute thighs, right up to my twitching eyes looking back at a pair of absolute idiots! These are the three things that my brainless companions ck! Perhaps they do not understand my detective's heart, the way they are whispering to each other right now!

Annalie is having none of this, and whispers a little too loudly, putting her hand to Madi-san's ear,

"Aya-chan... is being annoying again. I thought you 'fixed' her back on Bylon, Madison??"

Madi-san covers the WRONG side of her mouth, exposing her snderous words to me,

"Don't mind, don't mind, Annalie! She's just in her Mystery-Modo... again! we'll smack her right back into shape by the end of the arc, ehehehe!"

  "I heard that, Madi-san."

">implying I didn't say that so (You) could hear!"

  That ticked me off!

Why do you get to use the >greentext without blowback, Madi-san?!

There must be some sort of trick to it!

All your magick has rules, and if something has rules, it can be expined!

Would it hurt you to expin magick once in a while?

"Oh but no, its always 'its magick, we don't have to expin sheeto' with you!!!"

Annalie blinks, not sure where I am coming from! "Ehhhh, but Aya-chan! Madison is always right!"

There is a BIG difference Annalie! Madi-san THINKS she is always right! There is no basis to this, she just coincidentally gets things right, on occasion, when thinking conspiratorially! She can't keep this up forever! I'm mad, truly! Your detective is thoroughly fed up with this giga-breasted idiot thinking she's right all the time...

Turning right round, I sway my hips a little to the left, putting one hand on my side, swaying my hips to the side! Like a jujutsu master putting a tailisman on a wandering zombie with equal IQ to Madi-san, my single raised finger stops that :o-face right in her tracks!

Now, see how it feels to have YOUR signature pose stolen by this small and cute detective!

"The detective... shall now dispy her prowess!"

Randomness is the bane of good detective work! It is a rule of Knox! [2] The sixth rule of Knox states that no unaccountable intuition can prove the detective right! There can be no randomness in MY magick! This is all pure and logical reasoning...!

[DETECTIVE'S AUTHORITY]!!!Covering one of my eyes with a single hand, the entire world around me is stilled in a light blue freeze-frame. For ONCE in her life, the purple-haired idiot is suppressed by my magick! I think that's only fair that I let loose with my [Detective's Authority] once in a while!

A pinging wave of light spreads forth like a ship's radar from my position, highlighting a long trail that snakes across the New Coimbrian streets! The pertinent facts falling into pce, I eye the shopkeepers along the street highlighted in red!

  I see it!

The logical chain of reasoning that connects me to the truth! The silent freeze-frame smashes apart like a pirate ship ramming through a sheet of gss, removing the light-blue filter across this world! Fingers trailing the air towards the suspected route, motion lines and dramatic pointing ensure!

"I know exactly how to figure out where Rufti went!" Without even letting Madi-san a chance to bite back, I fire off my greentext!

  >be Rufti>stroll around town with two bodyguards>bodyguards are two meters tall>have really BIG and OUTSIZED horseheads>have MUSCLE bulging all over the pce>implying anyone would miss them!"If those bodyguards are so eyecatching, all we have to do is follow their trail! But who would we ask? Everyone around this marketpce is constantly moving! 'Bweh, bweh! That's your line, Madi-san?' Too bad! This is 「erumentori」 for YOUR great detective! We merely have to ask the shopkeepers here 'where those Horsefaces went'!"

At this instant, both empty-headed genkis clutch the sides of their face in absolute shockku! Most people wouldn't remember a random girl walking past their store, but those huge and overly muscur tuxedoed Horseguys, nobody can miss them right?!

It might be difficult for one with zero INT and another who takes pride in putting ALL her points in DEX...

Daga! This amount of deduction is possible for Ayano Sane!

This is what happens when you don't invest points in INT!

Words of praise sputter out of Annalie's mouth as she comes and gives me small cps with her fingerless gloves!

  Humph!

What does a detective have to do to get some respect around here? Point a finger and draw circles in the air and do the Hxre Hxre Yukxi dance?! Open your mouth in shock some more, your purple-haired fiend!

This is... the Mystery side's victory!

Go Go And Learn Moonrunes & Mysteries With Aya-chan![1]Fusō Ironcd- The fastest Ironcd ship in Moonrunic history! Travelling at an awesome speed of twelve knots, no other Ironcd could catch up to its speed back then!

[2] Knox the 6th! - Detectives should not rely on accidents or unaccountable intuition to solve cases! That means if you just magickally pop out a solution out of nowhere like randomly bumping into Rufti at a local pizzaria, your small and cute detective will NOT acknowledge this solution!

[3] 「shimapannai」- NO! That is NOT how you say 'Don't worry' in Moonrune! I don't even want to transte that!
