You are Hiiragi Naoko, and your daughter looks up to magical girls.
You’re a hard-w siher in a small toorks for a minor pany in the area, and taking care of a girl like Utena be rough. She doesn’t have a lot of friends, and her grades are just average, and she needs a lot of attention from you that you do your best to give the time for. But there’s ohing for certain…
a girl needs her hobbies, right?
The magical girls don’t really you too much, but as long as your beloved Utena is having fun – and as long as she’s keeping up with her studies – yd to support her however you . And holy, with how things are going tely, you should definitely show her your support…
So while Utena is walking off to her room after doing the dishes, you stride right up to her and give her a big hug from behind!
“Remember, Utena…no matter what happens, no matter when, your Mom will always be on your side.”
“U-u-uh, yeah…thanks Mom. I love you, Mom.”
Really? And you thought that was such a cool and motherly thing for you to say…Utena isn’t in her rebellious phase, is she? She pulls aretty quickly, but…
well, maybe there are things at this age a girl ’t tell even her mother.
It started a few weeks back, when Utena’s grades were slipping. It seemed like she’d started staring into space, leaving the table from dinner early, and going out at random times for walks. But she didn’t seem to want to talk about it when asked, so you let it slide at first.
But then it got a bit out of hand. You were alretty le about them pared to the other mothers at your pany, sure, but you couldn’t risk your poor Uteing a year, right? You even had to threaten to take her hobbies away, you were so worried…
But it all worked out in the end. You’d been happy tely, because Utena’s been making a new friend! Kiwi, you think her name was? You’ve only met her briefly, really. She might look quite odd, even sloppy, but it’s clear she has nothing but affe for your daughter! She’s even been helping Utena study, and her grades have improved! You hear they’ve even been helping take care of a local girl together, so maybe Utena really is maturing.
Even so, despite what you thought, it seemed like Utena was just growing more and more distant. And that’s where things are now. You don’t want to smother Utena, but you ’t help but worry about her…
“S-sorry Mom,” you hear, as Utena quickly rushes ba. “I o, um…Kiwi said Korisu’s mom is out again, so I want to help her take care of her…”
So you hatch a pn.
“Of course. Just be sure to be back by bedtime, okay?” You pat Utena on the head reassuringly. “Love you.”
“T-thanks Mom. Love you, Mom.” Utena smiles sheepishly, and quickly pops out the door with a little wave.
And after Utena leaves, you head upstairs, put on a shawl and sungsses, and decide to follow her.
Well, anyone would be worried in this case, but you don’t pn to do anything about it unless Utena is involved in something really awful. Kiwi might be a bit odd, but if they’re taking care of a younger girl together, she’s probably not a bad person. Besides, this is a small town! Really bad things don’t happen here. No train groping, no pensated dating, nothing else you hear about on the news. Really, there’s just ohing that marks your town as a little bit unusual pared to the average, and that’s the magical girls.
Although, you’ve been hearing some rumors that there are new vilins around tely…but it seems like no one’s really worried about it. The magical girls defeat them every time in the end, so it’s fine, right? Nothing you o worry about…
not like Utena going down a dark alley.
Okay, now that’s w. It seems like maybe Utena’s getting involved with something bad…w-well, let’s not jump to clusions. Maybe this is a shortcut? You peek around a er, where you see Kiwi and Utena talking, with a little blonde girl you suppose is their friend…
“Y-you know, we could just go shopping for toys today,” says Utena. She seems highly relut, actually… “Doesn’t that sound like fun, Korisu…?”
“Nonsense,” Kiwi says, patting Utena on the shoulder. “Venalita’s gonna introduce us to the other members of Enormita soht? You’re the ‘leaderess’! Which I’m pretty sure isn’t a real word –”
The blonde girl, presumably Korisu, shakes her head and wordlessly raises a diary.
“W-whatever! Point being, we’ve gotta impress them! And that means showing off what Magia Baiser do!”
Magia…Baiser…?
You mouth the words to yourself. That’s a name like the magical girls have, isn’t it? Then, maybe they’re pretending to be magical girls? It’s not a safe pce to do it in, you think, but if it’s like that, then it’s okay –
“F-fine! I’ll do it!” Utena seems relut at first, but you swear you see the ti bit of a smile f on her face before she says the words that ge everything: “Trans-Magia!”
In a moment, all three of them are enveloped in a nearly blinding light, f you to look away, for just a moment.
W-what…what is your little girl wearing?!
You’ve seen the magical girls in the media and through Utena’s erdise purchases before. And they look absolutely nothing like this. Their outfits are cute and sweet, just like the cssic magical girls of the anime you watched when you were young! But your little girl, your Utena is…
A corset and a lewd outfit, so much of it in shining bck.Evil, menag wings and sharp golden horns, resembling nothing so much as a demon.Pasties, just pasties c her breasts! And…is that a riding crop in her hand?
“Hehe…heheheheh…” Utena grins to herself, holding her fa her hand in a menag pose. Not only has she transformed into a e, it’s like her entire personality has transformed too! Your little girl! It’s pletely inappropriate, a…
(part of you ’t help but think this is the happiest you’ve ever seen her…)
“I feel them. They’re ing…” Utena whips her crop across the piping and power lines in the alley, whie to life under her and. “Of course they are. They ’t resist this dano matter how many times, they ’t help it! They must stand up to evil!”
Evil.
“Heheh. So, what’s the pn today, Baiser? Any siew fetishes you’ve been wanting to experiment with?”
“Don’t act like I pn all this ahead, Leoparde! You ’t rush this sort of thing!”
“I’m just sayin’. I was thinki Nero Alice take the lead this time. Even if she gets tired, don’t you think you’d have fun with them in the dollhouse?” Kiwi – or rather, Leoparde – pats the transformed, Alice-like little girl on her head before applying herself to Utena, half-nakedness and all. “Hey, hey, after this! Let’s go to a hotel~ A hotel~”
You just…stare in bewilderment.
Part of you wants to just rush out and demand answers. But you’re in such shock. Your daughter – presumably, for weeks, at least, judging by how long she’s been distant and distracted – has been living a double life as a viliness who fights against the magical girls. Her best friend Kiwi, and even the girl she’s been babysitting Korisu, are her vilinous minions.
And judging by the look on Utena’s face, the toothy grin, the starry eyes…she’s been enjoying it. The way her animated structs move suggests that the way she fights absolutely suits her sdalous outfit. The way Kiwi acts is absolutely manic, like she would die for Utena if she ever asked.
The magical girls had clearly held the line before now, but…how long would that be…? Could they really defeat your daughter? Could they really defeat evil?
You stand there, staring, just a bit longer.
You should follow. For her own good. You should…you should stop her. Yes, stop her –
and the moment you find your resolve, the three of them have run off. You look around for them, but to no avail – they’ve clearly run off to whatever part of the town the magical girls were headed to.
Well.
If that’s the case, then you’re just going to have to iigate what Utena’s been up to on your own, aren’t you?
The moment you get back, having run faster than you’d ever run before, it doesn’t take long for you to find suspicious things in Utena’s room.
There was, if you’re ho, an inkling that Utena might be doing naughty things at night, or at least havi dreams. It’d be hard not to notice, doing her undry at all. But she’s a growing girl, so you didn’t pay it any mind.
You had absolutely no idea that she’d been h SM magazines.
It’s not really your kind of thing. Girls getting tied up and toyed with doesn’t do much for you. There’s no romao it! It’s no way to treat a girl, to just leave her tied up and ed. It’s just missing the vital spark of romahat you’ve alreferred.
Is this where she got the idea to be “Magia Baiser”? Where did she evehese, anyway? Everything is digital now, getting stuff like this isn’t easy for a middle schooler anymore. Even you have to make special orders for your romance manga…
…
…wait…
Peeking out of a drawer somewhere is something hastily hidden. I-is that…
is that where your copy of Mira’s ‘Lashes of Love’ went?!
Earlier that week…
“Hey, Utena! Look what I found!”
In hindsight, Hiiragi Utena probably should have knower than to trust Kiwi alone in her house.
“Your mom’s got a colle of smutty magazioo!”
“D-don’t bring them in here!” Utena yells, but Kiwi has no cept of privacy whatsoever, and so it’s not terribly surprising when she es in with a huge pile of romance manga stolen from, presumably, her mother’s closet. And she dumps all of them right onto Utena’s bed, f her to hastily hide it anywhere she and hope she put it back ter before Mom notices.
Of course, she ’t help but look at the covers while she’s doing this…
It’s all 2D, is it? That’s a bit surprising. They mostly seem pretty…i, though? Some of them are definitely, um, ‘NSFW’, but they’re nothing like what Utena’s been reading (a-against her will!) Well, it’s normal for a parent to read this kind of thing, isn’t it? Especially when Mom’s been single for so long…
“Hey, looks like this one’s all BD- and/or SM-y. This is the kind of thing you’re intht?”
And then Kiwi had to shatter that illusion, tossing a new magazine right into Utena’s (unwilling) hands.
The title in as day – Lashes of Love (Haitoku no Finale), by one ‘Mira’ of peachpulsar…and both volumes, particurly the sed one, promised an adult time of the sort Utena had e to (against her will!) specialize in.
“The main girl on the cover even looks like you, Utena! Kinda. If you squint. Look, she even goes from a shy girl to a bombshell dominatrix! It’s just like you ging into Baiser!”
“T-that’s ni-now hide it so Mom doesn’t find out!”
“I mean, sure, but…you’re saying you don’t want to read it first?”
“I-I’d rather die!”
…of course, despite herself, Utena ended up reading it anyway…
A quivestigation reveals the obvious. Utena had clearly stolen a bunch of your yuri manga!
Sure, you don’t keep it well-anized, and you didn’t even know most of it was missing. But you were rereading Lashes of Love again, and you were absolutely terrified you’d lost it somewhere. You’d have to go digital, and that’d be just awful! And here…
Utena’s clearly been mishandling it. There’s eve spots on the pages…
So, you recap everything. Your daughter, your precious daughter, has decided to bee the leaderess of the forces of evil that threaten your towe the magical girls defeating her every time, she keeps going out to fight them, presumably toying with them in the same way as the girls in the magazines she’s, presumably, either stolen or had supplied by her new friend Kiwi, who is now lookiremely suspicious.
It’s very clear that something has to give.
Once more, Hiiragi Utena es home, defeated.
But this time, it wasn’t her iion. No seeing the power of friendship blossom, no victory snatched from the jaws of seemingly impossible odds, not even enough toying and teasing to satisfy her. No, it all went wrong from the beginning.
It turned out, Korisu had a vaation earlier that day, so after she used her power ohe girls were captured by Utena’s bondage, she pretty quickly fell asleep and the Tres Magia all broke out of the dollhouse. Sulfur insulted Leoparde, Leoparde shot up everything, then in the smoke Sulfur was able t out her true power and just beat them up right then and there…
What a disaster. (N-not that she’s accepted this, or anything…)
Holy, though. The only real thing that seemed off is that Azul seemed a bit more distracted. It’s probably nothing. Even a magical girl has to have off days, right? Ahey shine brightly evee them! They’re so amazing…they’re all goddesses wheransform! Absolute queens!
(and she didn’t get to torment them as she pleased. Heartbreaking. They’d have looked so beautiful being filled with electric shocks…)
At the very least, Uteo go home early. She’s got either some studying to catch up on, or some sleep to catch up oher sounds very appealing right now.
…oh, who is she kidding. She’s just going to get distracted by her magazines like usual. She still hasn’t seen how Lashes of Love ended –
Lashes of Love.
The very same Lashes of Love, the sed volume, that you, her very own mother, are holding in your hand as you sit down on Utena’s bed, scowling at your daughter, crossing your arms with an absolutely livid tenance.
“I-I-I expin! I-i-it wasn’t my idea! It was Kiwi’s idea! I’ve been framed! Framed, I tell you! I’m a good daughter, I swear! I’ll never do it again –”
“You had better expin, ‘Magia Baiser’.”
“E-eh?”
Utena freezes. And takes a good look at the se she’s in, the trap she’s been caught in.
The first thing Utena sees is that you aren’t just holding Lashes of Love’s sed volume. Around you, on Utena’s bed, is every si of manga that Kiwi stole from under her mother’s nose.
The sed thing Utena sees is that it’s not just the manga, most of which besides Lashes of Love robably tame enough to get away with. It was also all her SM magazines. Every single one. (D-don’t ask her how she tell.)
The third thing Utena sees, or rather realizes, is that you called her Magia Baiser.
…she’s doomed, isn’t she?
“M-magia…who? Is that German? Or Latin? Ahahahaha, that’s a ridiculous name! Never heard it before in my life!”
“And you’ve never heard of ‘Leoparde’ either? Or ‘Nero Alice’?”
“…”
…Utena, in a blind panic, drops down into a dogeza.
“I’m soooooooorrryyyyyyyyyyyy!” she yells, screaming and bawling ily, just like she used to when she was a toddler. It’s hard to believe this same girl has been ag like a dominatrix this whole time…
You’d mao sneak onto some secretive magical girl fandom forums. The topic of the new leaders of Enormita in town has beey hot tely, and they have observed three key things:
a) Magia Baiser is a lewd viliness, the leaderess that torments the magical girls in ways the news is, perhaps reasonably, incredibly hesitant to report upon fully.b) Leoparde and the neeared Nero Alice – particurly the former – are fanatically devoted to her.c) …in stark trast to the rumored activites of Enormita across the try, none of them seem all that ied in winning.
It’s absolutely uable.
“I had no choice! I had no choiiiiiiiice!”
Really? That’s what Utena is going to say?
“I ’t believe any daughter of mine would join an anization of evil dedicated to world domination!” you yell.
“I’m soooorrrrryyyyyyy!”
“And you’ve dragged not only one of your friends into it, but a little girl too! You could all get seriously hurt, never mind that you’re an enemy of humanity!”
“I didn’t wanna I’m sooooorrrryyyyyyyyyyy!”
“And all of this, after you’d spent all your time, all your allowance, on worshipping the magical girls! And then you betray them to evil?! To defeat them a world domination?!”
…at that, Utena suddenly stops bawling.
“Well, um. Actually, about that.”
“Huh?” You blink.
“I don’t…actually want to defeat the magical girls. And I don’t care about world domination at all.”
“You. You don’t?”
“Nope.”
“Then what are you even doing being Magia Baiser in the first pce?”
“I might…y’know. I might just wanna. You know. Harrass them. Sexually. And then, um. Let them win. You know?”
…
…
…
All your pent-up stress – your shitty office job, your me, your taxes, your responsibilities as a siher, the general dee of Western civilization – boils up all at once, and you just snap.
Y Utena by the shoulder up into her bed, spilling out all the magazines and manga onto the floor as you tug down your daughter’s skirt and panties, revealing her smooth, pale bottom.
“ait! M-mom! W-what are you –”
“This is what you’ve been doing to them!” you yell, and your hand smacks right atop her buttocks.
Smack.
You’ve never dohis before now, but you think of absolutely no other way to impress things upon Utena.
Smack.
She’s been tying up these magical girls. Toying with them. Making them squirm under anything she pleases. And then, she leaves.
Smack.
Making red marks on their skin, bruises as and even mild burns, all for the sake of her twisted pleasure.
Smack.
How does she think the magical girls feel about this?! Have you failed to raise your daughter properly? And for such a random reason, too! Such a vague reason to bee the ‘leaderess of the forces of evil’!
Smack.
And how her so-called friends put up with this? Kiwi is pletely irresponsible! And showing such things to a girl as young as Korisu will absolutely her brain and her morals! Or does Utena not realize how deeply those girls care about her, and how deeply they’re enabling her?
Smack.
Utena cries out in pain.
Smack.
She cries out in pain, as she realizes that this is what she’s been doing the whole time.
Smack.
It hurts. It hurts. From her own mother, no less! Her kind mother, who has never done anything to hurt Utena! Who is always on her side!
Smack.
Utena should have told you! Maybe you, her preother, could have somehow stopped Venalita from exploiting her!
Smack.
And she’s been ruining the magical girls like this! T-tormenting them with pains even worse than this! They must absolutely hate her! Utena ’t stand it at all! She wants to go home, except she is home!
Smack.
She wishes she’d never beagia Baiser! S-she wishes she could take it all back! Surreo the magical girls and accept whatever punishment they please!
Smack.
But, the worst part, the worst part of all of this is…
Smack.
She’s kind of starting to like it…
…
…
…after an absolute haze of ‘punishment’, you withdraw your hand.
T-this is unfivable. Absolutely unfivable. You’ve crossed a line as a parent! Even if you wao show Utena what she’s been doing to the magical girls, this is way too much! You should turn yourself in! You should –
your self-fggetion is interrupted by the sudden spontaneous appearance of a bizarre magical portal localized entirely within your daughter’s bedroom, and the appearance from said portal of a bizarre cat-like thing.
“Utena!” the cat-thing yells. “Sorry I’m te. I’m still getting the other members of Enormita together – eh?”
You stare up at the bizarre mascot character with suspi and ill i. “Who are you?”
“I’m Venalita! And you’re…Utena’s mother?”
The bizarre mascot creature stares down at the se before her. Hiiragi Naoko, clearly having discovered her daughter’s noal activities. Hiiragi Utena, with an absolutely red bottom, having suffered the same treatment she’d been giving out this whole time, and clearly enjoying it on some level, if the way she trembles is any indication. (Not that you’ve noticed…)
The scattered SM magazihat Venalita supplied to Utena to incubate her feelings, mixed in with an unfamiliar set of romantiga that she only clude belongs to you.
But before she make anything else of the se, well…you know that the magical girls have a simir looking mascot in white, that apparently supplied them their powers. It only takes you a brief moment to put two and two together, and suddenly, you’re absolutely throttling the mascot with both your hands.
“What! Have! You! Done! With! My! Daughter!” you scream, attempting to choke the absolute living daylights out of this ‘Venalita’ er. How dare she! How dare she give your daughter magical powers!
“I made her the leaderess of the forces of evil, of course,” says Venalita, apparently pletely ued by this treatment.
“pletely uable! You’re a predator! Targeting middle school girls like this!”
“Oh, no, I bckmailed her into it.” Venalita stares unblinkingly as best she toward you – difficult, when you’re chokio death. “She’s got great potential, you see. It absolutely couldn’t go to waste!”
“You…bckmailed her?”
“Mhm. Totally bckmailed.”
…you briefly stop choking Venalita, before you renew your attack with increased vigor.
“Absolutely uable! ’t you see? She’s just a kid! She’s not capable of world domination! She doesn’t have what it takes! She barely pass her math css!”
“…if you’d put me down, I could make you a deal, Hiiragi Naoko.”
A deal?
…well, maybe iating with dread entities from beyond the mortal realm capable of granting little girls powers beyond human prehension is a bad idea, but at this point, you’re willing to do just about anything if it keeps Utena from having to be Magia Baiser.
“Out with it, mascot,” you mutter.
“It seems like you have a potential simir to your daughter’s,” says Venalita. “We don’t usually recruit Christmas cakes –”
“Don’t make me choke you again!”
“– but in your case, I think anization would be willing to make an exception. Bee a leaderess of evil in your daughter’s pce, and I’ll make sure Utena never has to beagia Baiser ever again if she doesn’t want to!”
Bee…a leaderess of evil? An enemy of the magical girls? Just like that?
“M-mom, no! Don’t fall for her tricks!” Utena yells between sniffles and moans. “She won’t hold up her end of the deal –”
“I’ll do it.”
“Eeh?”
Utena’s surprised, but Venalita seems…well, you ’t tell what she’s thinking, but you’re pretty sure she’s not surprised in the least.
“It’s the only way to keep my daughter safe, right? And you’re doing inappropriate things to young girls, too. Clearly, you need a responsible adult on board to make sure yanization of evil is properly managed.”
“Then it’s settled! Just follow me to Nacht Base, and we’ll get you set up right away!”
“Eeeh?!” Utena yells, but it’s too te. You’ve sealed your fate.
It’s a bad idea. You know it. This isn’t the kind of life you should be leading. It’s pletely trary to everything you’ve tried to teach your daughter.
But if the only alternative is for your daughter to be doing this job, to be tormenting the magical girls until they find the strength to win, then it’s the only path left to you. You’ve dedicated everything to her, after all, and thus something like this is a sacrifice worth making, for Utena’s sake.
And so, as you pass through the portal, Hiiragi Utena staring bewildered, you bee the new leader of Enormita, an anization of evil dedicated to world domination…
sealing the world’s fate forever.
Sometime, about twenty-one years ago…
There was a girl who loved magical girls. Who admired and looked up to them.
But eventually, she turned away from them. And she told herself it was because they were childish things. She had to focus on school, on uy, on her career, on her daughter. Ohings her friends enjoyed. Magical girls were just so passe, and they just started to bore her anyway, you know?
But iy, there was just one reason…
after a while, after seeing the dreams of vilinesses get crushed again and again, after seeing darkness be drowned out by light, after so much cloying friendship, after all kinds of beautiful kaijin and evil lieutenants were turned against their mistress, after the powerful magical girls achieved a magical queendom of millennia of stasis…
even back then, as a little girl, Hiiragi Naoko could only e to one single clusion.
Why did the magical girls always have to win?!
How could the world ever be better ruled eternally by some…blonde bimbo?! Why couldn’t the genius girl who fell to evil stay fallen?! Why did they always have to break out of the evil brainwashing?! They were so much better that way! Why did they always have to blow up the monsters of the week?! What did they ever do to deserve it?!
…a long-fotten fantasy, from a time before Naoko could ever possibly articute it. Ohat would probably be just fine if it stayed buried. Hiiragi Naoko erfectly ordinary mother and widow. Maybe a little luckless in love, but that was okay.
Unfortunately, all this was undone, by her very own daughter…
and soon, Enormita would kly what kind of woman they’d just recruited as their new ‘leaderess’.
