Chapter 6: Pushing Beyond Limits

EXQ trudged forward, his body sore from the battle. The remnants of the shadow wolves y behind him, but their defeat did not bring comfort—only a reminder of how weak he still was. His power was awakening, but it was far from enough.

The wind howled across the barren nd, carrying the scent of something distant—something alive. His hunger gnawed at him, another weakness he had to conquer. With slow, measured steps, he followed the scent, pushing his body past exhaustion.

Hours passed, and eventually, he found a small stream hidden between jagged rocks. Kneeling beside it, he stared at his reflection in the water. His face—his human face—looked unfamiliar. It was still strange to see himself like this, bound to flesh and blood.

"This body is limiting me… but it's also my only path forward."

He drank greedily, the cold water shocking his system back to full awareness. His mind was already racing—fighting those wolves had triggered something inside him. If he could push himself further, maybe he could grasp more of his former strength.

  Then, a presence.

  A rustle in the distance.

EXQ slowly rose to his feet, instincts sharpened. From the shadows, a figure emerged—a man cd in battered armor, a sword hanging loosely from his grip. His eyes locked onto EXQ with a mixture of caution and curiosity.

"You don't look like you're from around here," the man said, voice rough.

EXQ remained silent, analyzing him. The man was injured, his stance uneven. A survivor? A wanderer like himself?

"You're alone too, huh?" The man chuckled dryly, before wincing. "Figures. This nd doesn't favor the weak."

  EXQ narrowed his eyes.

  Neither do I.

For the first time, he was faced with a choice—walk away or engage. He could sense it now, the thin veil between survival and power. If he wanted to grow stronger, he had to embrace every opportunity.

Even if it meant stepping further into the unknown.
