Chapter 15: Let's Get Ready to Rumble.

  “My floor!” Lamar screamed.

  “Really dude?” Sean replied.

  “It’s Brazilian Rosewood.”

  “No one knows or cares what that is except your bougie ass.”

  “I’ll pay to have the floor replaced.” Roberto interjected. He just wanted this conversation to be over so he could tend to his fiancé.

  “No, that’s okay.” Lamar said, sounding like a toddler that just got in trouble.

  Crystal was doing her breathing exercises and trying to remain calm through the excruciating pain she was feeling. They moved her over to the couch Lamar had for people to relax and read grimoires.

  “Aww man not my couch.” They all just glared at him. He backed away sheepishly and went behind his counter to give them room to work.

  “What did we do know?” Mycal asked.

  “We need to get her to the hospital.” Daniel replied

  “We can’t.” Serenity said from the door way.

  “Why not?” Lamar aske as Serenity walked in.

  “I was watching the diner’s cameras and it is surrounded by at least 50 vampires, there is no way that you’d make it through there.” Serenity responded.

  Crystal and Roberto looked at each other worried, the baby was coming a few weeks early and now they aren’t able to go to the hospital, Crystal was worried about the baby’s safety.

  “We make a path.” Lamar suggested.

  “Are you crazy, there is no way that we are going to be able to fight our way through that and get her out of here without getting harmed.” Daniel said.

  “What other choice do we have?”

  The guys argued about what was the right move, Mycal and Sean agreed with Lamar, while Roberto agreed with Daniel.

  “I know my father and he will only have his strongest out there.” Roberto was trying to keep Crystal calm at the same time.

  Crystal continued to do her breathing exercises as her mind was racing with all types of thoughts, but the one that was the loudest was that she didn’t want to have this baby in this shop. She wanted to be in a hospital surrounded by doctors and nurses and high grade medical equipment.

  “This place is full of duskers, I think we will be fine. Besides what other choice do we have, unless someone in here is a secret OBGYN then we need to get her to an actual hospital.” Lamar said coming from around the counter.

  “Can you make a back door to the market?” Elle asked.

  “Yeah but how is that going to help?”

  “This is the plan, Lamar is the strongest here” Mycal gave her a side eye. “Don’t look at me like that, it’s just facts and you know it, so we’ll use him to get them out of here why the rest of us cause a distraction. I’ll see how many duskers are willing to help. When the fighting starts you create a back door and get them out of here, my car is in the back lot.” She handed Lamar her car keys. She also instructed Mycal and Daniel to round up as many duskers they can find that is willing to help.

  “What do you want me to do? I have my stun gun with me and my hand to hand combat training with Mycal has been going great.” Serenity said eagerly.

  “Of course you do but I need you to monitor the cameras and let Lamar know when it is the best time for them to leave. Everyone else load up on weapons and potions.” Elle commanded.

  “Like you said I’m the strongest, shouldn’t I be on the frontline helping you guys.”

  Lamar getting her,” pointing at Crystal, “and that baby to safety are the only thing that matter. I know for a fact that you will stop at nothing to make sure that happens. Which also means I’m going to need for you to not hold back.”

  “What, no he can’t do that, there will be to many other duskers they may see.” Sean warned. Elle ignored his concern as Mycal and Daniel entered with a handful of duskers who were willing to fight. Elle looked around the room at the new faces it was a few from every class and not so many strong ones. Was this a suicide mission she thought.

  “Listen up everyone, I want to first thank you for being here, this is not going to be an easy fight by any means. We have a very special package we need to get to safety,” she pointed at Crystal again, and it was the first time some of the duskers even noticed her in the room. “I’m going to keep it real with you all, we are going up against the king of vampires and his cronies. These vampires were sired by him so they will be the strongest that you might have ever faced. We have weapons and potions to give you.”

  “We have half off weapons and potions.” Lamar chimed in. Elle shot him a dirty look.

  “Like I was saying we have FREE weapons and potions, and another thing this does not leave this room. If so I will hunt you down and kill you myself.” There was a snicker coming from the back, “I’m serious when I say this I will kill you, so if you can’t keep your mouth shut I need you to leave now.” Elle said at the people in the back. The room was silent, they never seen her this serious before and it was actually scary.

  “Lamar isn’t a normal mage as most of you might have gather by now, Lamar is a 5th class,” there were murmurs in the background, Elle raised a hand to silence them. “The reason why I’m telling you any of this is because this fight isn’t going to be easy, we are going up against the king of vampires and his sires, so having him hold back would be an immediate death sentence for this young lady and her baby.” Her speech got interrupted again, but this time from someone in the back.

  “You knew about him being a 5th class all this time.” A voice from the back said, it was a Greg Schwartz, he was a middle age man, with balding red hair and a beard like a Viking, he was built like one to, he was part of the warrior class.

  “I did, what of it?” Elle said defensively.

  “I just think it’s kind of messed up that you knew about this danger all this time and you never said anything.”

  “Hold up, Lamar is not a danger to anyone.” Mycal said.

  “Yeah if anything you’re more dangerous than he is, aren’t you the one that lead your team into a vamp nest unprepared and over powered, and wasn’t Lamar’s team was the ones that had to save your sorry behind.” Elle touched a nerve, she can see Greg ball his fist, so did Daniel who had a dagger concealed and ready just in case Greg tried anything. But he didn’t, he just coward to the back even more. Elle continued her speech and she gave them the plan if them being the distraction giving Roberto and Crystal a chance to escape.

  Everyone was getting ready, when Roberto pulled Lamar to the side.

  “I can’t let you guys do this, risk your lives for us.”

  “You really don’t have a choice, we aren’t going to let your dad kill you to. Besides I think he is after all of us now.”

  “Maybe if I go out there I can talk to him and get him to back off or let you guys take Crystal out of here.” Roberto suggested.

  “Do you for one second believe that he would just let that happen?”

  Roberto stood there quietly and thought, he knew Lamar was right but he didn’t feel right about them putting themselves on the line for him and his family.

  “Look man it’s no turning back, your father attacked us here, the fact that he was able to get pass my wards is scary enough.

  “Jason is a powerful mage, maybe he did something to them.

  “Maybe, something is just off about it all. I need to check something out, I’ll be back.” Lamar walked to the back of his workshop, he checked his potion cabinet and what he hoped didn’t happen did happen, someone broke in and stole one of his ward potions. What else could they have taken, he quickly surveyed the room, but nothing jump out to him, he didn’t have to do a thorough check. He made it back to Roberto.

  “What’s the matter?”

  “Someone stole one of the ward potions that I made.”

  “And gave it to my father, which proves the point more that there is someone working with the vampires.”

  “Yeah, maybe I should have put some kind of lock or alarm.”

  “You don’t have an alarm?” Roberto said shocked.

  “That’s not important,” Lamar turned his back to Roberto out of embarrassment, he should have an alarm but he stupidly trusted the duskers that came here to not steal from him. “Let’s get back to the others.” They walked back up front, everyone was in small groups getting ready for the fight ahead. Serenity was sitting with Crystal keeping her calm and timing her contractions. Roberto went over to her to help and check in.

  Lamar waved Elle over and gave her a heads up on what he found and for her to make sure she watches her back out there, the dusker that is helping the vampires could be in this group. Elle wasn’t surprised that the vampires had a dusker on their side. It wasn’t the first time something like this has happened.

  “So what should we do?”

  “Do what we planned, get them two out of here.”

  Roberto sat next to Crystal, Serenity excused herself. Roberto rubbed Crystal hand.

  “How are you doing babe.”

  “I’m okay, just trying to keep up with the breathing exercises, my contractions are still a decent amount a part.” Roberto took a towel Serenity was using and wiped some sweat off of Crystal’s forehead. “What if we just wait them out?”

  “What do you mean?” Roberto asked her.

  “It’s going to be light out in a few hours, they can’t stay out there forever right?”

  “Do you think you can wait it out that long?”

  Crystal winched from a contraction. “I can try.” She said holding her stomach.

  “Let me go check with Elle and the others and see what she says.” Roberto kissed her on the forehead as he got up. Elle was talking with some of the other duskers giving them instructions.

  “Hey, can I talk to you for a second.” Roberto asked Elle.

  Elle excused herself and walked over with Roberto to go and talk.

  “What do you need?” Elle asked.

  “How much longer do you think before we can get going?”

  “It shouldn’t be long, how is Crystal doing?”

  “She says she is okay but I also know her and I can tell she is in real pain.” Roberto said sadly.

  “Go find Lamar and see if he has a potion that can help her, we should be ready here in a moment.”

  “Okay.”

  Roberto was able to get something from Lamar that helped ease Crystal’s pain and helped with the contractions. Elle got everyone ready and Serenity got ready behind the cameras, Lamar was going to make two doors, one in the front and one in the back once the fighting starts they’ll get going. Everyone was ready, this was it. Let the fighting begin.
