Prologue

"The time to start is now."

"Rising market prices have caused the latest project to default."

"Historic levels of the radiation will occur on Tuesday."

  "Get your..."

On a young man's phone, the news went by and by with every tap of his finger. Around him was a grim city, with ashy clouds and a huddled mass that moved like black sludge. In the distance, a blaring horn echoed through the area. But the young man on his phone merely sat down on a flat bench without batting an eye.

The horn grew louder and louder. Louder and louder. And just then, the young man looked up at the beams of light that began to land on his body.

What do you see in a person's last moments? When they can see death approach them, with nowhere to go? For a moment, it seemed as if time had stopped with the truck only slowly inching forward.

  "My father is... Li Gang..!"

In an instant, the truck pulverized Li Gang's son and rammed through the bench, only stopping when it struck a wall. Onlookers coldly walked through the bricks and rubble as if nothing had happened. And so, Li Gang's son had passed away.

The die was tossed. From the release of death, a field of green entered Li Gang's son's vision.

"Am I in heaven?" said the young man to himself. He shook his head and murmured, "What the fuck?"

[Bing! Host, you are not in heaven. Your karma would not allow you to proceed to the afterlife known traditionally as heaven.]

  "Holy shit!"
