Yuki inhaled sharply, her breath shuddering as she sat back on her heels. She clenched her fists, fighting the tears that threatened to spill. Dwelling on her fear wouldn’t change anything. She had to act—had to find answers. The gnawing thirst in her throat was a stark reminder of her immediate reality: survival meant addressing her basic needs first.
Her gaze swept the forest, the towering trees and thick undergrowth casting long, shifting shadows in the faint light. Each sound, from the rustle of leaves to distant animal calls, set her nerves on edge. She stood unsteadily, wrapping her arms around herself to quell the chill that clung to her.
Then very suddenly a translucent glow of another notification interrupted Yuki's spiraling thoughts, its appearance slicing through her thoughts like a cold, clinical voice in her head:
[System Notice: Skill Details Avaible]
Turning her attention towards the screen Yuki used her finger to scroll on the system window. The list of skills scrolled before her, each one described in simple wording but not expining anything at all, almost as if leaving you to figure it out on your own while only giving you the bare basics. Yuki’s hands trembled as she read, her breath hitching with every new line. What kind of status is this?

Yuki’s chest tightened as she read through the descriptions, her mind scrambling to make sense of the alien terminology. The details were precise, yet they felt incomprehensible—a strange mixture of power and peril woven into every ability.
Her hand drifted to the ground, gripping a clump of damp moss as though anchoring herself to reality. What does it even mean to have these? What am I supposed to do with this?
Before she could process further, another notification repced the previous list.

Her eyes lingered on the words “Soul Fracture.” The phrase echoed in her head, heavy and suffocating. She pressed a hand against her chest again, the ache within intensifying. The mention of memory gaps and identity loss twisted something deep inside her, a fear she couldn’t yet name.
Another notification blinked into existence, drawing her focus:
---------------
[System Notice: Trait Details Avaible]
[Void Infection TI]The user forsakes a fixed mana pool, regenerating 400% MP per second and gaining a +150% passive increase to the MP stat, enabling near-limitless mana for sustained high-cost abilities.Drawback: However, the disproportionate MP growth over time destabilizes the user’s soul and body, causing votile energy to accumute. This imbance progressively damages the user’s health and physical capabilities, with severity tied to the disparity between MP and other stats, accelerating their descent toward void corruption.

The final line made her heart pound harder, her breaths quick and shallow. Progressive degradation of health and physical performance? The words felt like a death sentence wrapped in the guise of power.
As if in response to her spiraling fear, yet another notification appeared.

[System Notice: It is recommended User Collect Additional Soul Data For Integration Into User’s Soul.]

"What does that even mean?" Yuki whispered, her voice shaky. The forest around her offered no answers, its ancient silence unbroken except for the faint rustling of leaves.
Her arms tightened around herself again as she stared at the glowing screen, her vulnerability and confusion deepening with every passing moment. The weight of this new existence pressed down on her, suffocating in its vastness.
A deep breath, shaky and uneven, escaped her lips. "I have to figure this out… If I’m going to survive… I'm going to have to figure this out.”
---------------
Hours ter, Yuki sat in the shadow of a towering tree, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees as she stared at the translucent screen in front of her. The initial shock of waking up in an alien world had dulled into a heavy, gnawing anxiety. The forest's oppressive quiet was broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves and distant chirps of unseen creatures. Despite the retive calm of her surroundings, her heart still raced, her body rigid with tension.
The status screen glowed faintly, casting a pale light across her face. She had spent what felt like hours piecing together the fragmented knowledge the system provided. The abilities listed were like tools of unimaginable power, yet each came with consequences so severe they felt more like curses.
Yuki swiped through the skill descriptions again, lingering on the ones that promised survival:
[Survivor T1]: A safety net for the moments when her life hung by a thread. Yet, even that came with a cost—her body’s ability to heal itself would be crippled for hours afterward.[Harvest T1]: A means to grow stronger, but one that felt disturbingly parasitic, feeding on the remnants of her enemies.
Her gaze drifted to the curses section, and her stomach churned. The words “Soul Fracture” “Death Faithed” “Soul Damage” “Mana Overflow” “Ether Overflow” “Foreign Energy Absorption” and “Void Infection” all loomed over her like an ever-present shadow. Each one hinted at a fragility she didn’t fully understand, and each one a reminder that whatever she had become was no longer whole.
Her fingers dug into the moss beneath her, grounding herself as her mind threatened to spiral. She took a shaky breath, forcing herself to focus. “If I’m going to survive,” she muttered, “I need to know exactly what I’m working with.”
She opened the traits section, rereading all her skills, curses and titles over and over as if attempting to gleam something new from the text. Eventually however she gave up. Each Skill while powerful was a double edge sword but they were her only swords in this new world so she would have to use them as she could. Skills like [Void Infection T1] her passive so with no way of stopping its effects she quickly lost interest in it. “I need some sort of bance,” Yuki whispered to herself, her voice barely audible over the soft rustling of the wind. “All of these skills… Each one is more harmful than helpful. The only real exceptions are my unique skills and my legendary skills but those are more like trump cards.”
Her attention shifted back to the final recommendation from the system:
[System Notice: It is recommended User Collect Additional Soul Data For Integration Into User’s Soul.]
“Collect soul data?” The phrase felt foreign, clinical, and yet disturbingly intimate the same words the system said when it was taking her apart. Looking down at her hand Yuki couldn't help but mutter “is that all i was? Just a bunch of data…” her gaze became more downcast and her thoughts darkened “I’m no different then a computer program? Is that it? No…” Yuki shook her head. “Let’s not think about that right now.” she said to herself as she looked back at the screen “ Does this mean i will have too… to take the souls of others like some sort of demon to strengthen and fix my own soul?” The thought of taking life filled her with dread, yet the system’s cold logic suggested it might be her only chance at survival. She gnced around the forest, her gaze lingering on the shadows between the trees. Yuki then turned her head back to the main screen with a sigh.

The words flickered faintly as her eyes lingered on the screen. Void-Infected Human. Each term seemed to pulse with weight, gnawing at the edges of her sanity. The titles and skills read like tools—each a promise of power ced with hidden perils.
Her fingers traced the faint marks on her arm, the ghostly sensation of cracks and a terrible itch began forming beneath her skin as she began to activate [Void Resonance]. She swallowed hard. “This… it’s going to destroy me, isn’t it?” The question barely escaped her lips, lost to the rustling leaves overhead as her form slightly trembled from not just the cold but the terror she was feeling. Yuki extended a trembling hand out before her before she activated [Void Resonance] in full. The terrible itch beneath her skin intensified almost instantly, spreading like wildfire. Her arms felt as though a thousand tiny needles were pricking her from the inside.
She winced, clenching her teeth as the first faint cracks appeared along her forearms, glowing faintly with an otherworldly light. The itch turned into a sharp, pulsating pain. She tried to stop it as the pain was starting to become unbearable but the skill refused to deactivate “I-I can’t stop it.” she whimpered to herself as the cracks widened after each passing moment, first starting with simple and small spider-web-like cracks across her skin. Before a thick, bck substance oozed from the fractures, cold and viscous, crawling over her flesh like it had a will of its own. Then it began to pour—not just from the cracks, but from her eyes, ears, and mouth.
Yuki gagged, clutching at her throat as the bck liquid seemed to flood her senses. Her vision blurred, the world reduced to a swirling, inky haze. She felt like she was drowning, her breath hitching as the substance choked her. Panic cwed at her mind—but then, inexplicably, calm washed over her. It wasn’t a peaceful calm, but a cold, detached one. The suffocating sensation dulled, repced by an almost alien crity. The bck substance ebbed, no longer pouring uncontrolbly but swirling around her like living shadows. It felt right.
When Yuki opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on her back, staring at the fragmented light filtering through the canopy above. The bck substance coiled zily around her, responding to her faintest thoughts.
She sat up, her body and mind early calm as she extended a hand forward while intending the bck liquid to follow her original gesture. It was slow but the liquid closest to her arm mimicked the motion and Yuki then began to move her fingers while willing the liquid to follow. Yuki exhaled as she then commanded the liquid to turn into a sphere in the palm of her hand, the process was slow but the liquid eventually followed her command and all the bck liquid gathered in the palm of her hand in the shape of a sphere. If Yuki could feel anything at the moment she would be excited, giddy even but at the moment she could barely feel amusement at the discovery. ‘Does the skill react to emotion? That could expin why I'm having a hard time experiencing them?’ she thought to herself as she looked into the bck glowing sphere in her hand. She then muttered to herself, “maybe I could make clothing with this?” She focused, imagining fabric-like yers. But the substance resisted, struggling to not obey her mental commands. Eventually, however, she managed to force the liquid to take crude shapes and began to form. A thick, tar-like yer wrapped around her chest and waist, spreading downward to form rudimentary leggings. Her feet and hands were coated next, encased in bck gloves and boots. She grimaced at the uneven, organic texture—it looked more like armor than clothing.
Sweat beaded on her forehead as she continued refining the substance. She envisioned finer details, smoother surfaces. The goo shifted and rippled, and while it never fully lost its alien appearance, it began to resemble something wearable. When she finally stopped, Yuki stood cautiously, testing the fit of her new makeshift outfit. The outfit itself wasn't anything special; she simply had the liquid take the shape of a simple sports bra, shorts, stockings and shoes. Anything else was too difficult and she was beginning to get mentally exhausted from the use of the skill. She brushed a hand over the material, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.
“It’s not perfect,” she murmured, “but it’s better than nothing.”---------------
A Few hours passed and the search for water became her next task. The forest stretched endlessly around her, offering no guidance, but thirst drove her forward. Eventually, she stumbled upon a ke, its surface glimmering faintly beneath the canopy’s dim light. Dropping to her knees at the water’s edge, she cupped the cool liquid in her hands, drinking deeply. When she looked at her reflection, her breathing stilled for a moment.
The face staring back was not her own. It was strikingly beautiful—smooth as porcein, with delicate features she didn’t recognize. Long, midnight-bck hair framed her face, and glowing violet eyes stared back, piercing and otherworldly. Yuki tilted her head slightly as she studied the unfamiliar reflection. The face in the water seemed like a stranger’s—too perfect, too alien. She reached out, fingers skimming the surface, distorting the image with ripples. Her glowing violet eyes shimmered back at her, their intensity unwavering.
“So, this is what I’ve become,” she murmured, her voice devoid of emotion.
She ran a hand through the long, inky strands of her hair, noting their unnatural silkiness. Her features felt wrong, almost artificial. Yet the faint curiosity she felt didn’t stir into discomfort. It simply was—another fact to be processed and cataloged.
Standing, Yuki turned from the ke and stared into the dense forest. The air was heavy, the quiet punctuated by distant rustlings of unseen creatures. She flexed her fingers, watching as the bck substance from earlier began to seep through the cracks in her skin once more.
“I should test this further,” she said ftly.
