Chapter one-The summoning

A typical morning in Tokyo. The alarm clock blared furiously, but Suzuki barely moved. With a long sigh, he reached out, silenced it, and stared blankly at the ceiling.

  “Damn it… I’m late again.”

He rushed through his morning routine, washing his face, throwing on his uniform, and heading to the kitchen—only to find an empty fridge. The only thing inside was a forgotten, empty milk carton. He sighed. "Just another day".

Skipping breakfast wasn’t unusual for him. Living alone meant handling everything himself—school, work, and daily life. He had grown used to it. Despite being popular at school, he preferred keeping people at arm’s length.

On his way to class, he stopped at a small convenience store.

“Well, I might as well grab something to eat.”

He grabbed a packaged sandwich and a juice box, paid, and stepped outside. Everything felt completely normal...........Until it didn’t.

A sudden force yanked at his feet. The world around him rippled, the light dimming as the bustling sounds of Tokyo vanished into eerie silence. His body felt weightless, as if he were sinking into an invisible abyss.

  “What the hell—?!”

Before he could react, the ground disappeared. The city, the people, the sky—everything faded into darkness. And then, he was gone.

  Meanwhile…

Night had already fallen over the Elven Kingdom. Stars shimmered in the vast sky, casting their glow upon an ancient magic academy nestled within towering silver trees. Inside the grand stone chamber of the academy, flickering torchlight illuminated intricate carvings on the walls. A glowing summoning circle pulsed at the room’s center, crackling with latent power.

A young elf stood within it, gripping her staff tightly. Her golden hair shimmered under the light, but shadows of doubt flickered in her blue eyes.

Lizzy swallowed hard. This was it—her last chance to prove herself. If she failed to summon a companion, she would be denied entry to the academy. She refused to be humiliated again.

Whispers echoed from the observing students, their scornful gazes piercing her like daggers. “She’ll fail, just like last time,” one muttered.

Clenching her jaw, she shut them out. She had trained for this. She wouldn’t fail.

Taking a deep breath, she raised her staff. The magic circle beneath her flared as she chanted, her voice steady despite the fear clawing at her chest.

“O spirit of distant realms, heed my call and fulfill the eternal pact! By magic and blood, I command thee to appear!”

A surge of energy exploded outward. The blue light intensified, illuminating the entire chamber as raw magic pulsed violently. Lizzy gasped—the spell was working!

  But something was wrong.

  “What…? This power—it’s too strong!”

The circle spiraled out of control, energy crackling wildly. The chamber trembled. Her heart pounded, and her grip tightened around her staff as the ritual veered into dangerous territory.

  Then—two worlds collided.

  Suzuki hit the ground hard.

A groan escaped him as cold stone pressed against his hands. His head throbbed, his vision spinning. Slowly, he pushed himself up, breath heavy, muscles aching.

The air was different. The scent of burning candles and ancient parchment replaced the crisp Tokyo air. He wasn’t outside the store anymore.

Dozens of unfamiliar figures stood around him, dressed in robes embroidered with intricate symbols. At the center of them was a girl—her long golden hair flowing over her shoulders, her wide blue eyes filled with shock.

Suzuki’s heart pounded as reality crashed down on him. His hands trembled. His chest tightened.

  “Where… am I?”

Lizzy took an unsteady step back. She could barely breathe.

  "This wasn’t supposed to happen".

She had studied the summoning ritual a hundred times. She had followed every instruction perfectly. So why—why had she summoned a human instead of a magical creature?

Then, the sigil on Suzuki’s hand glowed.

The entire chamber pulsed with energy—not from her, but from him.

  Lizzy’s breath caught. “Impossible… He’s just a human… isn’t he?”

A sharp voice broke the silence.

“I can’t believe it! That idiot messed up the ritual!”

Laughter erupted. The students sneered, their voices filled with ridicule. Lizzy’s hands clenched around her staff, her nails digging into her palm. She was used to this.

But Suzuki, now processing what was happening, felt something stir inside him. His gaze flickered between the laughing students and the girl standing before him—tense, humiliated, but holding back her emotions.

His mind screamed that this wasn’t real. That it was all a dream.

But deep down… he already knew.

  He wasn’t in Tokyo anymore.

And whether he liked it or not—he had to survive in this world.
