  "Maybe someone's making a bonfire?"

  Kristine snorted, "Impossible. Like I said, it's off limits. Like very off-limits. Plus, who would want to make a bonfire in that creepy forest?"

  "Someone adventurous?"

  "Come on!" Kristine rolled her eyes. "Every adventurous person who went inside the forest never got out. No one. My grandma told me that at some point the forest became a tourist attraction, and it was disgusting."

  You kept quiet.

  "Towns like this aren't meant to be some kind of tourist place. We were meant to live quietly and peacefully. But then the stories hit the newspapers outside the town, and suddenly, every one of those loud travelers wants to give it a try," Kristine smirked. "And no one ever returned. That stopped them, finally."
