Chapter 66

  Done once again.

  Go me!

  I finally had the fire trapped.

  In total the number of lichen colonies I’ve found totaled 27. Growing the mycelium carapace on a tree and not finding one was a huge let down, but im glad I found as many as I have. It made growing on all the surrounding trees adjacent to the lichen filled trees much more easier and faster.

  Instead of a circle like shape, my area of growth really resembled more of an arc.

  Of course I grew on the fire’s opposite side as well. Poking my mycelium through ash was a much easier experience than growing through grass. Grass had so many fibrous roots I had to grow through, it was such a pain.

  Gotta say though I was really hoping this ash would help me grow. I remembered from watching documentaries that ash could be used as fertilizer to promote growth but that seemed to only apply to plants cuz I was getting nothing. It sucked

  Anyways I was just waiting for the fire to completely overtake the rest of my temporary bulwark.

  Wait… I should in fact just cannibalize it and let then let the fire advance on its own. Might as well, right? I quickly got on that. All I had to do now was wait for the fire to burn itself within e my enclosure and then burn out.

  Once this thing was over I would be more than happy to just relax for a long, long, long while. I know I said adversity can breed success but this was such a drag.

  I do hope however that jade comes back. I know buttons was supposed to be my pet to keep me company but… i don’t know there’s something about a moving creature that really fits the description of pet.

  I mean I’ve gone and named the damn thing.

  Even if the little bastard wouldn’t come back that asshole better be alive.
