Chapter 96: Godfrey’s Battle and Alice’s New Ability

Millions of infected and giant insects ripped each other apart with brute like ferocity and an uncaring attitude about their own safety. They ignored everything else around them, focused solely on killing their opponents. Tear them to pieces and consume their corpses. All to grow stronger, to evolve into something better.

Meanwhile, the city was still under siege. The infected inside rampaged while the virus turned countless citizens against their fellow neighbors. Not even mentioning the Drop Pods still falling from the sky and adding to those numbers. Defenders tried fighting back, but it was a losing battle. They were both overwhelmed and outmatched. Horrifying screams rang out from those being torn limb from limb, their blood spshing onto the streets. Yet these screams were soon overshadowed by the infected’s roars, straight from the pits of Hell itself.

None of this mattered to Godfrey, who stood in pce away from the battlefield. He growled lightly, the sensation of coming danger getting stronger and stronger. But he couldn’t see anything on the horizon. His Leviathan didn’t show any strange movements, meaning it wasn't airborne either. Where-?

The ground to his left split open and a giant maw was aimed right for his body. Godfrey was shocked at the sudden ambush and tried defending himself to no avail. The rge mandibles of this insectoid creature snapped around his waist, causing him to scream in pain. The strength it contained was immense, sending him crashing into the ground. All four of his hands pried the mandibles apart with a great deal of effort and with a roar, tossed the beast away.

Getting to his feet, he got a good look at the ambusher. A mountainous creature which was only slightly smaller than himself. It had many eyes across it’s head, and two giant mandibles which gleamed with a lethal light. Below them was a mouth featuring countless tiny sharp teeth, most likely used for digging. All of it’s many legs were sharp, but the front two were different and curved. If anything the insect almost resembled a centipede in a way. Only with far more armor.

Godfrey winced slightly and looked down at his waist. The damage it did was shocking, piercing straight through his tough skin. As it healed visibly to the naked eye, he gnced back up and widened his eyes. The insect charged towards him like a bull, not allowing him a moment to gather himself.

Two of his hands reached out and grabbed the front legs, halting them from sshing him. Meanwhile another arm came above and socked the creature right in the face, sending it tumbling into the dirt. Godfrey immediately jumped on top and started raining down blows with all four hands. It’s armor was incredibly tough, able to take a great deal of damage.

Suddenly it screeched loudly, disorienting him. Felt as though his brain was turning into mush, clouding his mind while his vision blurred. It used this chance to push him off using it’s body and send him flying. At the same time, both of it’s sharp legs dug into his stomach and smmed him into the ground. Godfrey shook his head to get rid of the dizziness and grabbed hold of the incoming mandibles, stopping the insect from tearing his head off.

Currently he was in a dead lock. Every one of his four hands were occupied on it’s legs and mandibles, keeping it from doing more damage. The insect had immense strength, almost on the same level as himself. But he had another weapon. His serrated tail wrapped around the bug’s middle section and flung it off to the side, freeing him.

As he stood up, the insect screeched once more and ran right for him; no regard for it’s own safety. He was ready this time, a deep growl coming from within. It was strong, but not enough for-

The sound of the ground cracking came from behind, making his head turn. Another of those creatures burst out of the ground and tackled him in the back. Meanwhile the first one shoved both of it’s legs into his chest and snapped it’s mandibles onto his throat. A pain filled scream tore through they air as they ripped chunks of his flesh out. His many hands battered against their thick armor, trying to pry the first one off.

Getting a chance, Godfrey picked it up and smmed the insect into the ground with so much force it split apart. At the same time his tail wrapped around the head of the one who tackled him from behind, stopping it in pce long enough for him to shove an elbow into it’s skull. Yet this wasn’t enough to bring them down. They ran straight for him once more, sshing and tearing at his flesh.

Back in the city, the still alive commander was stunned seeing the brawl. The giant four armed Behemoth was struggling against those massive insects. Each csh sent powerful shockwaves hurdling out, which could be felt even from where he was standing. All the while, the nearby terrain was being decimated and reshaped. How? How are they meant to win against such creatures with the pitiful weapons they have?

Hearing a growl, he turned around and saw one of his loyal soldiers get up from the ground. A lower jaw had formed, his eyes bleeding badly. It roared like a demon from the depths of the underworld and charged for him, tackling him into the ground and taking a chunk of his shoulder.

Back in the fight, Godfrey sent one of the insects flying away with a crippling punch; finally cracking it’s armor. At the same time, he grabbed ahold of the other one by the mandibles and held it in pce. The monstrous bug struggled fiercely, yet could not escape his grip.

A loud humming sound emerged from Godfrey's chest as orange streaks appeared across his skin. While traveling along his neck, the humming increased in both intensity and sound; soon reaching it’s peak.

Once his eyes turned fully orange, he was ready. He pointed down at the insect's head and released an extremely powerful beam. It drowned out all light and sound in the world, as if it was the only thing in existence. It crashed into the insect with a tremendous amount of force, causing it’s agony filled screech to spread far and wide. Blood was sent flying, only to he disintegrated due to the high heat.

The flung away insect tried to save it’s comrade, but something dropped on top of it and held it in pce. Whatever this thing is was smaller than it, but had great strength. The insect fought back and struggled as the unknown being held it in pce with it’s hands.

“W-What the fuck?!” Solomon yelled, muscles bulging with power as he tried helping his father Godfrey. Never before had he felt such strength, such power in another being.

He could barely keep it in pce for a few moments before it broke free and flung him off. Just as he stabilized himself it’s leg punctured his stomach, coming out the other side. He roared in pain and punched it’s armored face to no avail. The insect’s mandibles snapped powerfully a few times and came close to his head, seeking to rip it off.

Until Godfrey arrived. He grabbed the insect by the head and pulled it off Solomon.

“Get off my son!” Godfrey smmed the insect into the ground, again and again. His fists rained from above, cracking it’s armor open.

“Behind you!” Solomon warned him, making him turn around.

The charred insect he though he killed was too close for him to do anything. From it’s back, a long and sharp tail emerged and impaled him through, straight through his heart. Godfrey felt himself go weak, pain overwhelming his brain as strange liquid was injected into his bloodstream. But he didn’t give up and growled, punching the charred insect in the face.

“Why won’t you just die?!" He used his tail and sliced off a portion of flesh from the insect below him.

Godfrey then rushed to the charred one and smmed into it’s body with his shoulder, sending it into the ground. It sshed apart his chest and stomach with it’s legs, until he grabbed and ripped them off with a brutal roar.

“Solomon! Finish that one!” While he did that, Godfrey charged up another beam attack and drowned the insect in it. This time he didn’t let up, putting his full strength into it.

Only when the top half of it’s body was disintegrated, did he finally pause. Exhaustion washed over him as his body tried healing itself, the poison slowing this process down. The worst damage he suffered though, was his heart. It got quite literally, torn in half. It would take at least an hour or two to heal from this battle. Gncing over at Solomon, he was almost done killing the other one; using his fists to finish what he started.

As for the fight between his horde and the swarm, things were going well for them. At this rate, his infected would win. But it was not an easy win. At least eighty percent would perish. Perhaps even more if he didn’t give aid.

Godfrey stood up and nearly colpsed, yet held himself firm. Just as he was about to go and help, his eyes widened. Another swarm was beginning to appear on the horizon, one even rger than what his forces were fighting.

“Do they never end?” He muttered to himself, a bloody Solomon coming beside him.

Suddenly, he saw one of his Leviathans arrive to give support, causing him to forget about retreating. He would stand his ground. Hopefully, this swarm didn’t have another one of these rge creatures. But there was something important he had to do first. Contact the Master and inform him of what occurred here. How the Varnids were fully immune and couldn’t be infected, about these two creatures on par with even himself, everything. They might even have stronger ones on the level of Craxis. Perhaps Master himself.

Underground and inside of a barren pnet, was the Hivemind. The one which controlled 'all' Varnid insects with absolute authority. A giant mass of flesh which pulsed away at a consistent pace. Occasionally a fsh of light would move along it's many tentacles connected to the earth and go off into the distance, directing the Swarms on where to go. Who to devour. Which worlds to consume. Everything.

It quivered lightly, a deep and inhuman voice echoing out in the massive cave.

“New pathogen encountered. Searching.” It paused for a moment, it’s body moving erratically.

“Not found. Unable to infect Varnids. Incompatible. Report to Overmind.” A fsh of light was sent off as it continued.

“Capture infected. Study it. Consume it. Evolve to counter.” The Hivemind calmed down, returning to a serene state as it continued controlling an uncountable number of creatures all at once.

“Soon, it shall be ready. Then we devour everything.”

In a corner of the Hivemind’s underground cave was a strangely shaped egg. Curled in a fetal position was a humanoid insect, a wave of power rolling off it. Far greater than anything else.

The ultimate weapon, evolved to absolute perfection. Fwless in everyway.

“God, I do good work don’t I? My genius should be studied for future generations.” My eyes were feasted on the literal mountain sized creature floating in space up ahead.

One of my new ships, named the Gargantuan. Currently I could only make one of these due to the sheer amount of bio mass needed. Not to mention the complexity of it’s DNA. But golly is it worth it.

This lumbering beast somewhat resembled a turtle in a way, even down to the armor it had. Large meaty head with a mouth filled with insanely sharp teeth. The four arms it had sticking out of the armor were cwed and designed to tear ships apart with ease. Legs on the back helped it shuttle through space. Even had a short tail, mainly used to assist it's movement rather than do damage.

Unlike my Leviathans though, these guys have zero infected inside them. Well, that’s technically not true. The Gargantuan do have their own squadron of Killer Drones, used for taking care of the smaller craft around it. Anyway after some thinking, I decided not to use my new ship as a transporter. Doing so has given me a lot more options on beefing it up as much as possible. This led to a much stronger creature than the Leviathan, by miles even.

Due to their extreme size, each one was basically a pnet buster. Like Frieza in Dragon Ball, only way more hands on than the monkey racist. The Gargantuan doesn’t have to use it’s beam attack, or any complicated technology. All it has to do is ram the pnet at full speed. This causes irreparable damage across the entire surface and even takes a sizable chunk of the pnet as well. Think of a mountain sized asteroid striking Theia, and that’s what the Gargantuan is.

It's a massive step up from anything I’ve made before. A true monster in every sense of the word who will basically win me this war. With Ker’aii’s help, we’ve modified it’s genetic sequence and DNA to become nearly invulnerable to most forms of damage. This includes anything made by the Alliance. A perfect tank which can deal an unbelievable amount of damage. Only downside is their numbers. It'll take an entire Continents worth of Bio Mass to produce a single one. Scary.

Now though, it’s time to field test this big bastard and destroy one of those fleets once and for all. The same one we’ve been ambushing for weeks now. But we won’t destroy it. Not completely. There’s always more room for the Horde. I'm such a generous God.

Again, with Ker’aii’s assistance, we’ve changed my Ion Disruptors. This is mainly due to her personal expertise in Alliance technology, allowing the newly improved Ion Disruptors to counter their systems far more effectively. And this time, they won’t be able to stop it so easily like before. It’ll take them a much longer time to counter our counter. By then it'll be too te and we won't have to rely on these Disruptors any longer. Able to overwhelm our enemies through sheer might and number.

This final assault on this fleet will also be a smaller test for the other ship I created, suppose to be simir to the Destroyers. A medium sized creature, smaller than the Leviathan by a fair bit. Called the Splitter, it’s use is in the name. Got the idea from this strange alien creature I found on one of the pnets we conquered. This weird fish which upon death, split into two smaller versions of itself.

Obviously I took this ability for my own liking and added it to the Splitter. However, it does have a limit. It can only split four times before permanently dying. Wanted to add this to my other infected as it would give us a real advantage. But it doesn’t work so well. With the Splitter it’s fine since I made it from scratch. But throwing this into a Marauder or Night Hunter made it turn into jello. Shame, but not the end of the world.

The Splitter also has one really cool weapon designed specifically by my beautiful and sexy self. A torpedo type of weapon which is a variation of an improved Generator Core. Once unched, these bad boys explode on contact and do, well, a lot of damage. Fucking tons. Sadly, I couldn’t make this a biological feature so only the main body of the Splitter has it. The smaller ones rely on other weapons.

‘Ready to sughter some weaklings?’ I asked the Gargantuan, who roared loudly! Would’ve been so cool! If we weren’t in space and therefore, made the roar soundless. But I admire his, her, it’s spirit! Which gender did I make it again? Ah, it doesn’t matter.

As I flew back to my personal Leviathan, my thoughts drifted. Godfrey sent one concerning ass message about the Varnids. Unable to be infected? Immune? Insects on par with him? Bastards! Always had a bad feeling about them, turns out I was right. Inferior cunts can’t even be turned? What use are they then?

Obviously I did the only sane thing in response. I'd imagine most others would copy such a brilliant, and stelr pn. Immediately send out an Extermination Order 66 to every infected. If they even smell a hint of disgusting insect stench, they were to kill them off immediately and consume their worthless corpses. Who knew I’d get so heated at such a thing? I can hardly be bmed though.

Just as I entered the Leviathan and went to the Nerve Center to pn our attack, a wild Alice tackled me from behind!

“Hello to you to darling.” Sitting on top of me, she bounced up and down like a ball of joy. My eyes were drawn to her amazing chest, but she didn’t even notice.

“Jason! You have to see what I just did! So fucking cool!” She squealed loudly and stood up, beckoning me to follow.

“Come on! Come on!” Thus I did, temporarily halting my pns for the moment.

I followed her to her room, where she grabbed a book from the shelf. Grinning and making sure I was watching, she took a deep breath. Her entire joyful attitude took a complete 180, becoming incredibly serious. That’s… kind of hot.

But that’s irrelevant as I witnessed what she did. Alice somehow created this tiny little purple swirling vortex and sent the book inside. Suddenly, another vortex appeared a few feet away and out popped that same book. My jaw hit the floor, coming to terms with what she just did. Looking her way, Alice bounced in pce with a fat grin. Just the cutest ball of smugness.

“See?! Isn’t that fucking awesome!” I nodded and calmed myself down. First things first, questions.

“How did you do this?” She shrugged her shoulders.

“I don’t know. I just… did? Felt something inside me which said I could do it. And poof, it worked.” What a perfectly normal answer and not at all somewhat annoying. Here I am sving away under the hot sun and shoving incredibly conflicting DNA together to form infected creatures. And yet she...

Ignoring how easy this was for her, what a development. If this could be recreated on a rger scale, most likely through dozens of psychics doing the same thing, could we not teleport our fleets directly into the enemy’s homeworld and bombard them to kingdom come? Portable wormholes…

Suddenly, I feel the strong desire to become psychic myself. I’ve never really bothered with it too much before, but now? This shit has way more potential than I originally believed. Naturally since I’m the Perfect Vessel, it won’t be difficult to obtain such a gene. But instead of doing the hard work myself, I’ll just consume one of the psychics in her squad and steal it. Way easier.

I do wonder though. How far can this go? Can she eventually look into the future? Kill someone from billions of miles away? Create a wormhole into someone’s body and take out their heart? Forcefields? Connect to alternate Dimensions? Mess with time?Endless potential.

“Can you do this on a rger scale?” Alice instantly shook her head and waved her hands.

“Not a chance. Even this much drained me big time. Also gave a skull splitting fucking headache. But with time and practice? Possibly?” Suddenly she smiled, pride etched across her now tired face.

“Even if I can’t, Elizabeth definitely can. She’s way better than me and growing super fast, not just in body. And her creativity around her powers are incredibly high.” I nodded. Both of my daughters, and even Dante, are super smart. Miles above the cattle back home.

How they came from me is a mystery since I got the girls pregnant before my intelligence boost. I think these are called 'Happy accidents'. However, what about now? Wonder if my future child with Athena will come out as some super smarty pants. It'd be kinda ironic considering she's a battle maniac and hates this type of nerd shit.

“Since you have a headache, stay here when we attack the fleet. Shouldn’t strain yourself.” She raised an eyebrow.

“Are we attacking them soon?” I nodded and expined the whole thing. Testing the Gargantuan, infecting the remnants of their fleet using the Ion Disruptor, the whole shebang.

  Then she chuckled and smiled.

“Athena will be real happy to get some payback for what they did to her." Oh yeah. When she healed up completely, the muscur war goddess was pretty fucking upset. I tried calming her down and got a nice punch across the face. Course this led to me subduing her forcefully, which made Dante a happy little fucker.

I should go inform her myself. Saying goodbye to my sweet darling Alice and 'telling' her to rest, I headed right for Athena. She was currently inside her own room, likely pouting away. Phew, let’s pray she doesn’t try hitting me again. Bitch packs quite the punch.

Stepping inside, I found her lying on her bed; eyes open as she stared at the fleshy ceiling. That’s not concerning at all.

“What is it Jason?” All worries faded as she looked at me and smiled like normal.

“How are you feeling? Better now?” She sat up and nodded.

“Sorry for how I acted. Stupid. Just like a simple child.” Shaking her head, she seemed almost disgusted with herself. I sat down next to her, and immediately, she pced her head on my shoulder.

“I don’t really bme you. I’d most likely act the same way given the circumstances. Though, attacking me was a bit much.” Athena looked guilty and gnced up at me.

“Again, sorry. I didn’t mean to, but…” I put a finger on her lips and shushed her.

“It’s fine. I’m not that fragile. But how would you like to redeem yourself? To kill those bastards who harmed you?” A wild and manic grin appeared on her face, knuckles clenching so tightly bones popped.

“When?” Her voice turned deep, a low growl coming from the back of her throat. I’d be lying if I said that didn’t flip a switch in me. But now’s not the time for such naughty actions. Though after the battle is another thing entirely.

“In a little bit. An hour or two? Just have to make some st preparations-“ I paused, turning my head to her open door. And like I sensed, my little spiderling came into view.

“Raven? Why are you here?” Silence. She stared at me and Athena for a few moments with those beady bck eyes. Gncing between the both of us. Until she finally spoke with her usual frosty tone.

“Aunt Lily wanted to see you.” I turned to Athena and gave her a quick kiss before getting up.

“I’ll go see what she wants, then prepare for a jump to their location.” She nodded as I left with Raven.

Though as I followed her, I just couldn’t help but think. How’d she know I was here? Is she following me? Ha, ridiculous. Of course not. She likely sensed my location through our bond. Same one I have to all infected.

At least I hope that’s the case. I’m starting to worry about her unhealthy obsession with me. Elizabeth and Dante love me deeply, as I do them. But Raven is… strange? Way too focused on me. Well, maybe it’s not a bad thing. What father doesn’t love getting attention from their adorable and emotionless insectoid daughter? I shouldn’t worry. Probably won’t turn into anything serious.
