chapter 18-Event

As we rushed forward towards the gate we were noticed by both the guards and the people who were fighting against them.

There were 10 guards fighting against a total of 23 people. The people trying to escape had a hopeful expression when they saw us coming. Alice moved to the side and fired a beam of water from a distance. The guard she was aiming at swiftly dodged to the side thinking the beam was simply going travel in straight line. However the beam of water had, unexpectedly, changed it’s direction in midair under Alice’s control.

It hit the guard in his shoulder but he was able to cover it in rocky skin to protect himself. While this was happening I rushed towards that guard and shoot out several concentrated wind spheres at him. He managed to cover his arms in rocky skin but the sheer impact of the wind spheres caused him to fly stumble back a few steps.

The guard that Alice and I were attacking didn’t have a chance to look up before a wooden staff of a red color hit his head. The force behind the attack was so powerful that he was knocked to the ground. Gregory then fired a concentrated wind sphere into his head and killed him. While Alice and I were attacking Gregory had jumped into the air and attacked from above.

He was now in the middle of the fight between the guards and those who wanted to escape. He looked around to observer who the weakest and strongest guards were. His gaze locked onto a burly bald man. The man’s entire arms were covered in rocky skin. He looked at Gregory and his eyes became focused. They rushed at each other.

Meanwhile me and Alice had started assisting a pair of cultivators in a fight against a pair of guards. I swiped my hand across the air to send a Wind Slash flying towards one of the guards. They managed to block it. While they did this Alice and another cultivator rushed to the side. Alice shoot a beam of water at the guard which hit his side and caused a massive bloody wound to appear.

Then the other cultivator shoot out sharp rocks from his palm. They penetrated the guard’s leg and he fell to his knees. Then the other cultivator who was fighting him before shoot out a beam of water towards the guard which hit his unprotected head and pierced his brain.

Then I suddenly felt a pain in my left arm. I looked down on it and saw several sharp rocks had penetrated it. I screamed out it pain. Then the guard who had attacked me rushed towards me.

Suddenly he was hit by a wind sphere which was shoot at him by Leonard who didn’t engage in close quarters combat that much and instead liked attacking from range. This allowed Alice and the other 2 cultivators to attack and defeat the guard.

  …

After around 20 minutes of pure battle with the different guards we had finally killed all of them. We were covered in injuries and wounds. Some of the cultivators who were here when we arrived had died during the battle.

We didn’t waste anymore time. We gathered all the civilians and opened the city gate to escape. Once we were outside we travelled north to the mountains since it would be difficult for the Fatestar family to follow us through such terrain. We walked for about 15 minutes before we made it a significant way up one of the mountains.

I looked behind us. From this distance the sect could be seen. But instead of majestic and towering buildings being seen in the distance there was just thick, black smoke rose above a bright yellow light that blanketed the entire city. From a distance this sight appeared almost…beautiful.

Richard looked at this scene in a mesmerized expression. On the outside he looked unfazed by any of this and from the perspective of the people around him he would appear like an emotionless and heartless man. However this wasn’t the case at all.

Richard was overcome by hatred. Pure and utter hatred for the Fatestar family. He couldn’t even think of anything else besides getting revenge on them. Before this night he had no clear goal in mind. All he wanted was to gain power for the sake of power, he had no clue what he was going to do with it.

But now he finally had a goal. A clear goal he could work towards. Revenge. He wanted revenge on the Fatestar family. They took everything from him. His home and his family and his fellow clansmen.

In his eyes they deserved to die. He didn’t know what motive or goal they had and he didn’t care. He would kill every last one of them no matter how “good” they may be.

In Richard’s eyes nobody was good, but nobody was evil either. They were all just trying to survive. It didn’t matter what action they committed. The world would not judge them. The only ones who were able to judge them were other people. But what could they do? Nothing.

So Richard didn’t care who stood in his way. He wanted to get revenge. He wanted to make them pay.

He turned around and continued walking with the rest of the group. The burning city in the distance contrasted with the pale moonlit night. Creating a beautiful scene that in reality was a tragic and bloody event.

Richard and the others didn’t have any set destination in mind. Their only goal was to just walk as far away as possible to the Fatestar family couldn’t catch up with them.

  …

In the year 353 of the 2nd Age the Moon Flower Sect was destroyed by the Fatestar family after over 18 years of planning.
