Chapter 222 part B4

  Dream state near the end of the day...

  I entered the 'hotel' that Asakura and Sylvie had built.

  "Welcome to the Underworld Hotel. How can I serve you?" Ayumi asked at the front desk.

  "So you are an employee here?" I joked.

  "Shun... you can't fool me. I know its you," she smirked.

  "I heard the food is lousy here. And that people give lousy tips," I said pying along with her.

  "Oh really? You want to step in the back room with me to the manager's office to have a chat?" Ayumi seductively grinned. She was already getting ready to disrobe.

  "Hey I like that idea. Let's go," I started to say. I took her by the arm.

  But then, I heard someone clearing their throat. "Actually we're kind of busy now. Can we go up to the VIP conference room?" Sylvie asked.

  "We can do this there instead..." Ayumi is already topless.

  I'm having trouble concentrating now.

  "Actually... Sylvie stopped in mid-sentence. And then looked at the doorway. "Uh oh. We have problems. Something is coming."

  "That's weird. Stuff isn't supposed to be able to get in here that easily," I thought.

  Sure enough...

  Some kind of weird shadow slime was entering the front door of the hotel. But not in a nice way. Aggressively it shot massive tentacles at hyper speed at Ayumi. I sshed them down with my sword. It wasn't my only weapon. I had many. This dwarf sword I'd picked up off a dead dwarf when we were visiting dwarves; I couldn't use it till now. Dwarf weapons were fantastically made and had improved damage. I spun the blood around in a circur pattern with mana coating the bde and severed 3 tentacles.

  Hm... this was a good experiment to try. The dwarf made weapons can hold mana charge better than normal weapons! I hadn't noticed this until now!

  A fourth and a fifth tentacle erupted from that previous cluster grabbed Ayumi. And started pulling her to the entrance. She screamed for help, while trying to beat off the tentacles but she was getting dragged by immense strength!

  The tentacles are immensely strong, I realized! Even I could get overpowered by them!

  Then, another set of tentacles came from something outside the hotel also. Like before entirely tar bck and filthy. They came at Sylvie. Sylvie shot off a lighning bolt that destroyed that set of tentacles. And she mana bolted the ones trying to drag off Ayumi.

  Ayumi ran to hide behind me. Because I would be the one to hold the defense line.

  But more of the tentacles were coming. We knew to stay away from the front windows and doors of the hotel base.

  I summoned Sunghee. She was ready to fight even before her bck bde was up. Somehow she knew, with her eyes bzing intensely.

  "I feel them... they are coming!" Sylvie warned urgently in her sweet voice.

  "Be ready!" I called out.

  By then a new barrage of dozens of tentacles was coming through the front doors of the hotel and had shattered the gss there. Immense power and speed just... it was like the gss and front of the hotel were made out of toothpicks because of such intense monster strength and ferocity!

  The violence! The tentacles sshed the whole line of windows across the front in... it probably wasn't even 2 seconds. They'd even ripped out the metal supports that held the windows in pce. And the screaming sound was ... weirdly not human and like nails on the chalkboard.

  "Th-this is ... we're not ready for this," Sunghee gasped in astonishment.

  "Hold your ground. Concentrate yourselves together so we can magnify our destructive power together. Sunghee! You can do this! You are strong! Get in a formation of a spear point centered behind me!" I ordered.

  Sylvie knew to get closest to me. With her lightning bolt and offensive magic she could improve the stopping power the most.

  "I've never seen tentacles like these. They are too strong to be normal," Sunghee called out.

  The tentacles were cut down. I did like before with the mana coating the bde to do super cutting power on the dwarf bde. Then I held the charge for the arriving evil. 3 tentacles are severed by my blow as the tentacle barrage hit us. Sylvie then cut down several with another lightning bolt. And Sunghee took a 3 hit combo sever one more. Ayumi was... the bait; for some reason she smelled good to them; so she hid behind us.

  That was still useful though. Instead of actually fighting Ayumi used her tail to stab a tentacle and block it. She managed to keep one of them from grabbing Sunghee.

  The remaining tentacles withdrew. But I knew it wasn't over. We could feel the fight was far from over. This next time the tentacle barrage burst through the empty windows to our left, just as I was equipping soul crystals onto the other to make them stronger. I put 2 soul crystals equiped onto Sunghee because she needed reinforcement the most. Then 2 on me. And 1 on Sylvie. I was in a hurry that I didn't really get a chance to see which soul crystals I put onto who. Even I felt so threatened by the ferocity of these things that my hands felt twitchy and nervous, almost fumbling the crystals.

  These... tentacles felt like some kind of a boss monster almost. It was weird.

  "What is this...? Sunghee asked.

  Was she feeling what I'd felt?

  "Those are tainted whatever they are. Prolongued contact with those tentacles is dangerous," Sylvie informed us.

  "Don't let them touch you! Sunghee, believe in me, we can make it through this!" I warned.

  The new tentacle bst came in through one of the big windows. I shot a lightning bolt. Sylvie shot hers a second after. And then I activated the area effect mana slice. Sunghee managed to do something simir to my move on the fly after watching how I did it too!

  "Oh! I just learned a new ability! Its saying I gained a skill called, windmill ssh. An area effect hit," Sunghee shouted excitedly.

  "Nice! But keep being careful. Use area effect hits if you can. Otherwise the tentacles can overwhelm you. But we have to concentrate on overpping our skills together," I said.

  "Are you going to summon the others?" Sylvie asked.

  Something was bothering me about this. I felt I shouldn't... and I didn't know why. It was...partly reted to how the tentacles reacted to Ayumi. Plus, I'd already equipped the soul crystals on whoever I could.

  "Get ready for the next tentacle bst," I warned. I felt it coming.

  This time there was... I don't know maybe 12 tentacles... through 2 windows. We moved like before. And they were all cut down. We'd even cut down more of them this time than st time. But it was very scary.

  "We still haven't attacked what's sending them. We need to go out there," Sunghee warned.

  "NO! That's wrong," I said.

  "Are you sure its wrong to go out?" Sylvie asked.

  "What are you thinking?" I asked.

  Its been about 10 seconds now...

  Sure enough the timing of the tentacle bsts is like on a 10 to 15 second timer. We obliterated it like before. Using the skill share ability I like being able to use Sylvie's lightning bolt spell since it hits a big area.

  We obliterated the target.

  But then the next wave I got scared. The next wave... the tentacle numbers went way higher than before. It was like double! We had to move to the side and dodge while still fighting in retreat. We bought a few seconds and then shot the remaining tentacles with mana bolts and whatever else we could.

  "Uh oh..." Sunghee said.

  "There should be more this time too. Wait, I have an idea!" Sylvie said excitedly.

  She did something resembling a spell. And then clone illusions of us appeared to the west and north of us. And to the northeast of us also by the windows.

  Sure enough... the tentacle bst came. By having 'fakes' of us up, the tentacles were baited into going after the closer clones first. We obliterated them within a few seconds.

  But before the next wave came we had to switch it up....

  "This time move to the left," Sylvie said.

  We did so. Now she's got 3 fake illusions of our group up in the other spots. The tentacles won't know which is the real us.

  Just like before we incinerated them, as the tentacles sliced our illusions to bits.

  And we kept fighting wave after wave this way.

  ...

  How long has it been now? A half hour? An hour?

  I felt our magic power was going down a lot now. And I began to worry about how long we could hold out.

  How come this thing...whoever, or whatever it is doesn't slow down or give up?

  "Shun. This is demon magic. Whatever is out there, is a high level caster. I'm feeling it now," Sylvie said.

  "Any idea of the species?" Sunghee asked.

  "Problem is there's too many demon species to account for," Sylvie frowned. "But the mana smell is disgusting."

  !

  Uh oh. I realized what that would mean.

  And then I felt a telepathic message go into my head.

  [Shun! You must do as I say to escape! I will coach you how to win! But this enemy is considered an unbeatable boss by many. You must trust me!] A woman's voice said.

  Eh... unbeatable boss? That makes me nervous.

  ...

  Author's Note; just a heads up. I put up the How to Date an Android Story here on this site. People have been requesting it and for it to be put here. So I'm trying to give that to them. I hope people will enjoy it. Also I'm re-editing this story and that one to improve them. Mostly the story won't change. But some small things will be improved.
