Curse existed before time and was bound to the Law to maintain balance across the chain of realms. Although he possessed omnipotent power, he had no true free will and could never act outside his function. Over infinite time, being aware of every outcome while being unable to choose any of them caused his mind to deteriorate. When he realized the Law did not preserve balance but only repeated the same cycle endlessly, he raged.
