Diamond dungeon (4)

Rather than try to replicate the monster's tactics against the tsunami, Adonis, still on its body, leapt into the air.

After transitioning into a smooth somersault, the magic knight found himself face-to-face with the .

{It's ugly.} The Devil God said bluntly.

'Be nice.' Despite the monster's terrifying visage, Adonis managed to control his fear and keep calm.

Adding to its menacing aura, the creature opened its horizontally opening mouth to swallow him whole.

"Here's a starter before your main course." Adonis opened his palm and used his spatial ring to summon an old unravelled scroll.

Adonis bit his thumb and smeared the blood on the scroll's magic circle.

  "Now."

Just before the monster could devour the boy, the scroll obeyed his instructions and summoned a massive fireball.

To its dismay, the monster swallowed a large ball of flame rather than the boy as it might've hoped.

"How's it taste?" Adonis twisted his body mid-air to readjust his position and summoned two throwing knives from his spatial ring.

While the monster was coughing distraughtly, Adonis wasted no time in coating one of the knives in Earthly Aura and throwing it at the left eye.

Despite its vulnerable state, the monster was still quick enough to move out of the knife's path.

'Of course, it wasn't going to be that easy.' Without losing hope, Adonis threw the second knife; although this one wasn't enhanced by the supernatural energy nor was it aimed at the monster's eye.

Adonis's second throwing knife disrupted the first one's path and redirected it to the monster's eye's new position.

Too late to react to the altered trajectory, the monster lost its left eye.

"HRHHH!" The Crystilipeda thrashed about violently as it was showered by its own green blood.

Refusing to receive any further damage, the monster removed the rest of the body from the ground and curled itself into a tight ball.

'It's at least the size of a small town, it's massive.' Landing with a soft thud, Adonis studied the injured monster's entire body.

"Why'd you use a scroll, your own magic is stronger?" Hiram asked.

"I ran out of mana trying to destroy the monster Teetotum." Adonis admitted.

"How'd you manage to do that?" She asked curiously.

"It's a secret." The boy put his index finger to his lips and smiled.

Startled by the Crystilipeda's thrashing, the magic crystals in the mine's walls escaped; revealing themselves to be concealed

"Not these things again." Seeing a Cancrillum lunge at his thigh, Adonis summoned his gladius and easily severed it in half.

Sensing another presence behind his back, Adonis raised his blade and blocked the sneaky Cancrillum.

The boy retracted his blade and pivoted his body, destroying the creature with a graceful roundhouse kick.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

'More?' Identifying another springy White Ranked monster, Adonis extended his hand and plucked it from the air.

Unlike its Unranked bredrin, the White Rank monster retaliated aggressively by blasting the boy's hand with a strong gust of wind; freeing itself from his clutches.

"There's no point chasing after it."

"Yeah, this is a waste of time." Killing more monsters with his spear, Rocco nodded.

"We'll need to attack the boss." Adonis spun around and killed multiple Cancrilli by enhancing his weapon with Earthly Aura.

Identifying the magic knight as a threat to it and its weaker bredrin, the Pink Rank Cancrillum propelled itself toward the boy, determined to put an end to his reign of terror.

'I doubt I'd beat a Pink Rank right now, even if I do it'll take too much time and energy.' Adonis dashed to the senior knight's side.

"Rocco, I have a plan." Adonis whispered.

'What is it." Utilizing his spear to kill more monsters, Rocco listened to the teenager's plan.

"That actually might work." The knight nodded.

Noticing its bleeding had somewhat gotten better, the giant Crystilipeda unravelled its body and began crawling along the mine's massive walls.

  "It's time." Adonis announced.

"Let's go." Rocco nodded and dashed at the monster, his movements getting progressively faster with each movement.

Trailing behind the knight, Adonis began pushing himself to his physical limits.

"Roxanne! Water!" Falling further and further behind Rocco, Adonis cut a Cancrillum in half.

"It's not my problem that you're slow." Refusing to aid her fellow magic knight, Roxanne stabbed a Cancrillum in the small opening below its base.

"Rocco." Unwilling to argue with his senior, Adonis sought the help of her father.

"Roxanne, please." The knight leapt into the air toward the monster's head.

"Fine." Scowling, Roxanne created a simple magic circle and shot a large ascending torrent of water at her speeding junior.

Embracing the water's speed, Adonis flew into the air beside Rocco.

Unhappy with the aggressors' presence, the Crystilipeda slightly detached from the wall and extended its excited fangs toward them.

"You sure you'll be okay?" Still being carried by the torrent of water, Adonis offered the knight his arm.

"Yeah, just do what you have to do kid." Rocco smiled and grabbed the boy's arm.

"Collect plenty of crystals." Adonis's eyes dimmed as he prepared to fulfil their plan.

"Of course." Middair, Rocco gyrated rapidly, swinging the boy around wildly.

When the monster was finally too close Rocco let Adonis go, sending him flying in the air.

Distracting the monster, Rocco threw his enhanced spear at the creature's remaining eye.

Scared of being blinded, the Crystilipeda shut its left eye and lowered its head.

Rather than seeing the knight when it opened its eye, the monster found itself face to face with the solidified water current.

'That's to be expected.' Seeing the monster merely shrug off the ice boulder, Adonis shook his head and landed on the Crystilipeda's lowered crown.

Adonis raised his gladius above his head and plummeted it swiftly, stabbing the creature in its healthy eye.

Refusing to be part of the monster's rampage, Adonis quickly slid off the monster's head.

  "HRHHH!"

Holding on to the monster's teeth as leverage, Adonis enhanced his feet and kicked the Crystillipeda in the roof of its mouth.

  'It's breath stinks.'

Thrashing about even more, the monster shut its mouth and swallowed the teenager whole.

"Disgusting." Summoning a gladius from his spatial ring, Adonis dug his blade into a Crystillipeda's throat and slid down its oesophagus.

Unable to bear the indescribable pain in its body, the monster flailed about wildly, killing multiple monsters in its tantrum.

The boy concluded his journey at the monster's core, where a large pink magic crystal pulsed radiantly.

Adonis immediately dislodged his sword from the monster's lining and leapt onto the magic crystal.

"MONEY!" He clung to the magic crystal with a strange feral glint in his silver eyes.

{Just take out the crystal.} The Devil God sighed.

"Do you know how much this's worth?" Adonis removed the magic crystal from its 'holder' within the monster's body.

The monster halted its thrashing abruptly, releasing its grip on the walls and falling to the ground like a harmless town-sized centipede.

"I was hoping he died." Roxanne, who was collecting numerous white magic crystals admitted.

  "Roxanne." Rocco scolded.

"Sorry." She bowed her head ashamedly.

"Hehe." Adding a final magic crystal to her ranger's ring, Hiram giggled.

  ***

"It's that quick?" Still standing in the monster's disgusting insides, Adonis watched his hand quickly turn to tiny mana particles.

  {Wanted to stay in this dump forever?}

"Yeah, then I'd have an excuse not to keep practising that annoying technique."

  {Ungrateful brat!}

  "Hehe."

  Back at the mine

"You need a shower kid." Scowling at the boy covered in monster guts, Roxanne pinched her nose.

"Kid? You're only five years older than me." Adonis frowned.

"And twenty years more mature." Roxanne huffed.

"You are not mature." Adonis said flatly.

  "I am."

  "Am not."

  "Am too."

  "Am not."

  "Am to..."

Pegasus Guild Hotel, Adonis and Hiram's suite

"Where're you going?" Holding a woven basket of dirty armour and robes, Hiram stared at the youth.

"I'm going to train." Dressed in casual attire, Adonis said sadly.

  {Stop sulking mortal!}

"We just got back from the dungeon, aren't you tired?" She asked concernedly.

  "I am." He whispered.

"I'll be back before dinner." Hanging his head, the magic exited the suite.

  "Be safe." Hiram said.
