In the boss room were the two other members of the ranger party both of them engaged in a fight for their lives against a massive abomination.
The monster stood tall with four muscular legs, armed with short black claws attached to its large scaled body.
Adorning the monster’s reptillian flesh was a massive segmented armoured shell that protected it against all types of attacks. In place of the monster’s eyes, nose and ears were massive and sharp horns that threatened to to pierce all incoming threats.
“It took you two long enough!” Rocco held his spear horizontally against the shell of the spinning monster, which attempted to run him over with its heavy body.
‘A Rolling Poly.’ Roxanne Identified.
‘I don’t think I’ll be much help here, I’m too tired.’
‘Im glad he’s okay.’ The corners of the girl’s lips tugged slightly.
“Have you made any progress?” Adonis pulled his gladius back into his spatial ring and cracked his fingers, the fatigue coursing throughout his entire body.
“We managed to damage its underbelly, but nothing that has affect its movements.” Hiram replied.
‘He still has energy to fight?’ Roxanne looked at the boy.
“Do you have a plan?” Hiram asked as she shot a massive spear head at the monster’s armour.
“...” The boy didn’t reply, merely studying the monster’s segmented armour.
“Atleast warn me!” Dodging the mage’s attack, Rocco allowed the spearhead to hit the monster’s armour; causing it to roll backwards a few meters although without any visible damage.
“You two look pretty tired, it’s okay. We can handle it.” Rocco joined the rest of the party members at the back, smiling.
Ignoring the party leader, Adonis built up the mana in his stomach; carefully transforming it into white flames before he expelled it from his mouth.
‘Inferno magic…’
“Hell’s breath.” Feeling his throat heat up to the point of discomfort, Adonis summoned a magic circle infront of him and ejected the majestic ivory flames.
When the flames entered and exited the magic circle they shrunk into a smaller more concentrated beam of flames that travelled at almost twice the speed of sound.
Defending itself from the terrifying flames, the monster folded its form into a ball once more; shielding itself from the boy’s attack.
Knowing it would do this, Adonis adjusted the magic circle so he could accurately hit his target; the spot inbetween the segmented armour plates.
‘?!’
{How symbolic.} The Devil God chuckled.
“His accuracy is impressive, isn’t it better than yours Roxy?” Rocco chuckled.
“It is.” She uncharestically admitted.
“Hm?” The knight shot her a curious glance.
‘It’s hot.’ The overwhelming burning sensation he used to feel in his magic core returned, although this time it manifested itself in his throat; and it didn’t grant him the privilege of not causing physical damage…
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
As the magic knight continued to bombard it with a constant beam of flames, the monster’s armour began to weaken and its skin began to rapidly deteriorate.
“ RUUUGGGGGGHHHH!”
“Argh!” Blood formed in the boy’s mouth while he continued to spew out this constant beam of flames, both him and the monster experiencing more critical damage by the second.
‘I’ll protect my mouth using Earthly Aura, I just need to get this done.’ He grunted.
Sick of being constantly assaulted by the ray, the Rollie Poly rotated in place; disallowing the beam from targeting the exact same spot and gathering speed to wipe out the entire party in one go.
“AHHHHHHHHH!” The more mana he poured into the spell, the more pain Adonis cumulated in his throat and mouth.
“Well done!” Seeing the armoured plates fall to the ground, Rocco smiled.
“Adonis!” Hiram yelled.
Overwhelmed by the pain in his throat, the boy lost consciousness; falling like a ragdoll onto the ground.

Eleven years ago.
Caelum Empire- Vulcan Kingdom, Twist city
With a heavy leather bag slung across her shoulder Pan walked around the city’s plaza deep in thought.
‘We should take a break. Ozzy must be tired.’
“What would you like to eat O-” Suppressing her worries, Pan managed a smile and glanced to her left.
“Ozzy?” Realizing she was no longer walking hand in hand with her son, Pan shook her head side to side; her eyes darting around the plaza.
“Ozzy!” Managing to maintain her composure, Pan turned her head to look at the path they’d took.
Snapping out of the daze he’d seemingly found himself in; Oizys turned his head away from a store’s display panel, smiling from ear to ear.
‘I really want them!’ Oizys beamed.
Taiko Drum toy that caught his attention, thick muscular armas wrapped around his tiny body.
“NOOOO! OZZY!” Tears running down her cheeks, Pan’s mouth gaped open while she helplessly watched her son be kidnapped in broad daylight.
“Mmpha Mmmpha.” Muffled by the cloth in his mouth, Oizys disappeared into the crowd along with the masked man.

One week after the dungeon
Periculum, Pegasus Hospital“MrhhaMrhaaa!” Drenched in his own sweat, Adonis abruptly rose from the confines of the hospital blankets his voice sounding similar to nails on a chalk board.
{Mama’s boy.} The Devil God chuckled.
“Adonis?” Seated on the chair beside the small bed Hiram muttered softly; drool rolling down her lower chin.
“Hrrrow…” Feeling blood rise from his throat, the boy gripped his neck tightly and threw up a small cup of the scarlet liquid.
“No! Don’t speak.” Jumping from her seat, the mage worriedly placed her hand over the boy’s mouth
“The healer said that your voice box is missing multiple muscles and your oesaphagus is damaged.” She said sadly.
“She’ll be coming to ask you some questions soon, just rest.” Hiram continued.
‘It’s fairly obvious what happened.’ Adonis nodded.
“What day is it?” He mouthed.
“It’s been eight days.” Hiram said softly.
“Don’t worry, we defeated the monster and cleared the dungeon pretty easily after your attack. Thank you.” She smiled.
“I’m glad.” He mouthed, forcing a grim smile.
Following the soft click of the wooden door, a woman in a long white trench filled to the brim with plants, herbs and magic crystals walked in with a soft smile on her face.
“I see you’re awake Mr Vindicta.” The Doctor smiled.
“He just woke up.” Hiram replied for the teenager who couldn’t speak.
“That’s quicker than we expected.”
“Yeah, Adonis has always healed pretty quickly. I think that’s why he’s always taking it too far.” Hiram sighed.
“So how long is it going to take his throat to recover?” She continued
“Unfortunately…” Struggling to find a way to say the bad news, the doctor paused briefly.
“Hm?” Hiram frowned.
“We’re unable to heal the damage in his throat and mouth.” Doctor Jet straightened her face.
“What do you mean, can’t you just use potions like you usually do?” Hiram raised her brow.
“Magic potions speed up the natural healing of one’s body for a brief amount of time, in Adonis’s case his body won’t be able to repair the damage to his body, it’s like healing a severed arm.”
“Then we can just get the Zeas to heal him using Holy Aura?” Hiram shrugged.
“We’ve tried, but none of the Zea’s here are capable of healing wounds on a cellular level, everyone capable of doing so are either working under kings or are Tier 4 magic knights.” The doctor explained.
‘Poor kid, he’ll will never be able to speak again…’ She shook her head.
“...” Hearing the news of his fate, Adonis’s expression remain unchanged; the news simply being what he had expected.
“Oh, thank you doctor.” Hiram frowned, looking at her companion with pity.
“Rest for a while before discharging yourself.” The doctor quietly muttered before turning her back towards the two.
‘There’s one thing I don’t understand though…’ Walking through the hospital corridors Dr Jet pondered.
‘When other magic users emit spells from their mouths their unaffected by its power. So why was he injured, and why to that degree? I’ve never seen flames that completely destroy cells like that.’ She scrunched her face.
“What was his name…Adonis?”

Snapped out of her depressed daze by the boy’s rapid snapping, Hiram glanced at the teenage boy.
“Hm?”
Mouthing the words with his lips, Adonis smiled softly.
