"The Lord's Seraphim walk the earth, spreading His mercy."
"First-rank magic, Seraphim's Blessing."
The chanting of the priests rose in unison once again, blending into a single, powerful sound. In an instant, the weapons of the humans were coated in a layer of holy light, slicing through skeletons like hot knives through butter. It made Eric's scalp tingle just watching.
Is there no end to this? he thought. Are they just going to keep stacking buffs non-stop?
Eric felt like the edge of the battlefield was so far away. He was tempted to just burst out and charge forward; he couldn't stand these buff monsters any longer. But he took a deep breath and reminded himself to stay calm and keep lying low. So far, he hadn't drawn any attention to himself.
As long as he could reach the edge of the battlefield and stay hidden, he would have a chance to escape. He had already accumulated over 2,000 experience points from all the finishing blows he had delivered. If he could survive this battle and evolve and change his class, he might be able to jump several levels at once. That was probably the only thing that was keeping Eric going.
But even if he did level up, it would be pointless if he couldn't escape Pound's clutches. He was determined to break free from the bone dragon's control.
"Skeleton, don't run!"
A human suddenly lunged at Eric. Eric quickly maneuvered himself and gathered a few skeletons around the human, who was quickly overwhelmed and finished off, becoming part of the evil skeletons' experience points.
"Almost there, almost there!" Eric could see the edge of the battlefield. Just a little further... and he would be free. He would be able to reach the ocean, the sailboats, the vast new continent. Adventures in this other world, cute elves and beast-eared girls were waiting for him on the other side. No, thinking about elves and beast-eared girls just made him feel even more pitiful...
He reached out his hand, ready to embrace freedom.
"Boom!"
A loud explosion sent up a cloud of dust. It was Pound crashing down from the sky. The force of the impact blew Eric away, landing him right in the middle of the battlefield. Freedom, gone in an instant.
Eric's hatred for Pound, the missionary, and the purple-armored warrior reached its peak in that moment. Pound's crash had blown away a large number of skeletons and humans, creating a vacuum in the middle of the battlefield. The purple-armored warrior swung his greatsword down fiercely. The sword light sliced through the air, creating an enchanting silver trail.
Pound was about to dodge when a huge golden spear, accompanied by chanting from above, pierced through the gaps in Pound's ribcage, pinning him to the ground. Then the greatsword chopped towards Pound's head.
"Roar!!!"
Pound roared, the flames in his chest and eye sockets burning fiercely. He raised his head, and dark blue flames spewed from his mouth. The purple-armored warrior had to dodge to the side; the greatsword missed Pound's head and struck his horn instead.
"Crunch—"
A grating sound, and a piece of horn was violently chopped off. The purple-armored warrior was also pushed away by Pound, who flapped his wings fiercely, causing the flames in his chest to explode, shattering the golden spear. Pound, now out of control, flew up into the sky and unleashed his blue flame breath indiscriminately on the battlefield, not caring who it hit.
The succubi hurriedly flapped their wings to dodge, but the skeletons were not so lucky. Especially Eric, who now just wanted to curse out everyone who could understand him. This was probably what they called misanthropy.

But at that moment, Pound was furious and had lost his mind, indiscriminately unleashing his devastating attacks. The missionary and the purple-armored warrior had no choice but to fight back against the raging Pound. The high-level allies and enemies dodged the enraged Pound, and no one paid any attention to the low-level skeletons who were mere cannon fodder.
The opportunity had come.
Eric's eyes lit up as he scanned the entire battlefield, his excitement almost spilling out of his eye sockets.
"Finally, finally!" he muttered to himself.
Eric blended in with the skeletons and sprinted in the direction opposite to where Pound was. He activated [Stealth], bent down low, and minimized his presence as much as possible. He kept running and running. The scenery on both sides flew backward at high speed, and soon, Eric reached the edge of the battlefield.
A few humans noticed the low-level skeleton who was clearly trying to escape the battlefield and surrounded him. They were very careless, not even raising their weapons. After all, he was just a low-level skeleton.
Eric quickly scanned these humans. Two were level 11, one was level 12, and two were level 13. Two mages, two heavy-armored warriors, and one swordsman. In other words, squishy targets, tanks, and melee damage dealers.
"A low-level skeleton? Why is it acting so strange, charging this way?" one of the tanks spoke up.
"Let's just finish it quickly. That bone dragon over there is going crazy. Damn it, we shouldn't have taken this job," the swordsman said, casually raising his sword and pointing it at Eric without much care.
No one thought Eric was a threat, until he bared his fangs. Believe it or not, a skeleton's fangs can come out in the blink of an eye.
His ribs instantly transformed into a bone sword. With a flick of his wrist, he shot out mud mixed with water, forming mud pellets.
"Magic? What the hell?!" The swordsman was clearly stunned and tried to raise his sword to block. But Eric was too fast. The mud pellets struck the swordsman and the two tanks in the eyes in an instant.
In that moment, they lost their vision, and the swordsman and the two tanks were clearly bewildered. But their experience did show. The tank felt his way forward and activated a skill, forming a barrier. The swordsman quickly retreated, feeling his way to hide behind the tank's barrier to clean his eyes.
Eric wasn't about to give them a chance. He stomped his foot on the ground, and the ground beneath the tank and swordsman instantly turned into a swamp. The two heavily-armored warriors wobbled, and with their lack of vision and unstable balance, the barrier had a huge gap.
He took the opportunity to leap up, threw his bone sword, which left a blue trail, and stabbed straight for the swordsman's throat. A precise hit.
The swordsman felt his neck, only to find hot blood gushing out.
[Ding, Killed Human Swordsman LV13, Experience +250]
"Fireball!"
"Earthquake!"
The two mages reacted and quickly cast their spells. The ground collapsed, and a fireball smashed down. But Eric had been on guard against these two mages. He followed the collapse, crouched down, and dodged the fireball.
The mage, seeing this, quickly detonated the fireball. But Eric's body was now covered in a layer of water, and even with the explosion damage penetrating through the water, it posed no threat to Eric, who had elemental resistance and 12 points in Constitution.
[Agility] activated, he bent his body, ignored the roars of the two tanks, and charged at the two squishy mages. One mage tried to block him with his blunt staff, while the other mage chanted spells from behind.
The mages here were not completely incapable in melee combat. His staff swung fiercely, aiming for Eric's vital spots.
Eric just wanted to end the fight quickly. He raised his right arm, and his arm bone quickly wriggled and grew, forming a long, narrow shield to block the staff strike.
With a thud, the staff was deflected, and only a few fragments and dust fell off the bone shield. For the entire skeleton, it was just a minor injury.
What kind of ability is this! What kind of defense! This is beating up a weak-resisting skeleton!
The mage was full of questions.
Eric just wanted to shout, 12 points in Constitution, bro!
The other hand's claws grew fiercely, and he tore through the mage's throat and windpipe. Blood gushed out, staining the skeleton red.
The other mage had finished his chant by then.
"First-rank magic, Sprite Fire Arrow!"
Flames traced in the air, condensing into a lifelike arrow that let out a loud bang and shot towards Eric. It was fast, incredibly fast. Eric could only see a red line.
He raised his right arm, and the bone shield was instantly pierced by a small hole. Then, the fire arrow, unstoppable, grazed his skull and flew past.
Seeing this, the mage's face turned desperate.
"Get out of the way!"
The two heavy warriors finally broke free from the swamp, regained their vision, and charged at Eric. But Eric wasn't about to give them a chance. He stepped forward and grabbed the mage's neck.
[Brute Force] activated, he easily crushed the neck. Blood flowed down his pure white bones, and inside the hollow skeleton, dark blue flames burned.
This is what a skeleton is.
