Chapter 53: Memories (3)

"Hold on for a second. Are you being for real? A crazy and unreasonable woman threatens to close down the store, despite the apparent shop owner's best attempts to defuse the situation?" Nora asked skeptically, as she added. "Look, I could buy it up until you entered the coffee house, but the moment that woman entered the store, the story stopped having any semblance of realism. Don't tell me you're making it all up, just because the meeting between the two of you was a simple 'Hello' and 'Goodbye'."

"If it was that simple, I would have come up with something more believable that this, but here we are..." Soren stated casually, as he decided to continue with the rest of the story. "Anyways, as I was saying before... The unreasonable lady threatened to sue the coffee house..."

  ...

"If I don't get my refund soon enough, I will sue to make sure this place shuts down." The woman exclaimed with a furious expression, as she had crossed her arms and was staring daggers at the two employees behind the counter. While the commotion was happening, Soren had completely stopped his job applications and was instead, thinking of a way to prevent the situation from escalating any further and end up somehow being caught in the crossfire. Clearly, talking her out of suing them is an impossible task, as she seemed dead set on suing them over the most insignificant problem. Despite that though, the man who was currently confronting her, didn't seem the least bit shaken, as if he treated her words like empty air.

*ring* Suddenly, their attention was grabbed by a middle-aged man with curly brown hair, wearing a tacky gray suit with a fedora. The man slowly walking towards the counter and sat on the empty chair across Soren's seat and casually made his order, unaware of the current situation. "Make me the usual, Old Gee. Don't make it too sweet."

"Can't you see I'm a bit busy, you old coot?" The man retorted back spitefully, as he turned his attention towards his newest customer and ignored the woman's sharp glares.

"So what? Don't you have an additional pair of free hands? Use those instead." The man with the fedora suggested casually, as his eyes suddenly darted towards Soren for a second, who was currently grasping his phone hard, before going back towards the duo behind the counter.

"Can't you see those employees have business with me!? Who are you to order them before me!?" The lady suddenly turned her attention towards the man with the fedora, as her expression had turned into a fierce one.

"I'm just a customer making my order, young lady... Don't mind this old man. Just go back to whatever business you had before."

"And who do you think you are to order me like that!? Don't think you have the guts to talk back to me, because I have no problems to sue you, as well as everyone else in the shop for associating themselves with this shop!" The moment she yelled that out, that's when Soren and the rest of the customers became enraged, some of the other customers started yelling out back at her.

"Hoi, what did we do to you for suing us now!?"

"What's the big idea!? Aren't you just being unreasonable now!?"

"Why put the blame on us!? We didn't even say anything to you!"

As the group of old men and the woman were arguing with one another, the man with the fedora suddenly towards Soren and asked in a quiet voice. "Did you manage to get a video of her? Don't think I haven't noticed you pointing your phone towards her."

Soren simply nodded, before whispering quietly as well. "Yeah, but I haven't posted it on the internet yet."

"Good, pass me your phone under the table for a bit. Try to distract her in the meantime."

"But why? What is your plan sir?" Soren whispered nervously, as he felt apprehensive with trusting his phone to a stranger.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of the situation. Just distract her for a few minutes. The longer, the better." The man with the fedora assured him with a confident expression. Seeing his confident expression, Soren knew he had nothing to lose at this point, so he quickly passed his phone under the table and slowly got up from his seat.

"That's enough miss! Clearly you're acting beyond unreasonably at this point." Soren yelled out towards her, as he walked and stopped right in front of her.

"And what do you mean by that, you punk!?" The woman asked in a hostile manner, as she stared back towards Soren, who was clearly looking unfazed.

"You're clearly going overboard at this point and for what? A refund? A coffee cup barely costs no more than 12 credits, and yet here you are, throwing up a fuss and attempting to sue everybody over a 12 credit refund!"

"I don't see where problem is. I have the right for a refund and if the establishment refuses to do so, I have the right to sue them." The woman stated callously, as she stared down at Soren.

"Sure, let's say the shop didn't reimburse you, that's fine then. But where did your right to sue everyone else come from then? Aside from the two employees, you didn't have the right to sue anyone else, as everyone else was an uninvolved customer." Soren stated coldly, as the woman was slowly showing signs of distress.

"No! I refuse to back down from this! I know my rights, my rights say that I can sue everyone who has caused me mental distress." The woman stated coldly, as she had a cruel and relieved smile on her face, before following it up with her next sentence. "After all, everyone in this shop has argued with me and caused me great mental distress. So I have every bloody reason to sue everyone! Ahahaha!"

'Yeah... There's no reasoning at this point. She's clearly gone off the deep end.' Soren thought to himself, as the woman was laughing maniacally, thinking she had the final word over everyone. Although he doubted before that the woman in front of him would have actually gone through with her threats, seeing her current state, made it far more likely to for her to actually go through with them, even if it costed her an arm and a leg.

"Ahaha... Aha... So, do you still have anything else to add, before I sue you, you punk!?" The woman asked mockingly, as she was currently gloating over her victory between her reasoning and Soren's.

*ring* *slam* "I do Vera." Suddenly, a tall, bald man with sunglasses declared upon slamming the door open and entering into the coffee house, surprising everyone in the shop, with the exception of the man with the fedora, who muttered under his breath. "Took you long enough."

"H-H-Honey!? W-What are you d-doing here? W-Weren't you still at w-work?" The woman Vera, asked fearfully, as if her callous demeanor from before had been nothing more than an illusion.

"I was, until I found out you were causing trouble once more! How long are you going to keep causing trouble, you stupid woman!? How long!?" The bald man reprimanded her with a furious expression.

"Please Shaun, it's not what you think it is. It's-" Vera desperately tried to explain her actions, but the bald man Shaun, had no intention of hearing her out, as he suddenly snapped his fingers. At that moment, a couple of men in suits suddenly entered and grabbed Vera's arms, before dragging her out of the shop.

"Wait, Shaun! It's not what you think it is! Please, let me explain!" Vera desperately cried out, as she was being forcefully dragged out of the coffee house. Once she left, the bald man suddenly took a bow and apologized in front of everyone. "I am very sorry for all of the trouble and distress my wife has caused to everyone. If there's any way to compensate you, please let me know."

"It's alright Mr.Vigil. I'm the one who should be apologizing and compensating you for calling you out here like this, despite your busy schedule." The man with the fedora bowed apologetically as well, as he took it off.

"It is alright Dr.Morgan. If it weren't for you, I am afraid the damage caused by wife would be far more severe than this." Shaun stated gratefully, as he could only imagine damage caused, should he have arrived any later.
