“I thought the tower was supposed to make me stronger? Why the hell am I needed to roleplay?” She muttered.
Hilda turned to Shila who shrugged.
“Shruggiung seems to be your specialty.”
“I guess checking their strength out wouldn’t hurt.”
“By the way, only one person can be chosen as the cultist per year and it’ll be the strongest one.”
“So… the rest of the guys will be on the what floor?”
“50th.”
“...”
“That’s not fair.”
“World ain’t fair.”
Shila started walking off as the cultist led her away, leaving Hilda behind.
“Dammit…” She sighed, following behind.
The further they followed the cultist into the cave, the more the terrain changed, slowly turning from stone walls with moss to metal welded together then an oddly futuristic place.
“Hey hey hey, what’s this?”
“Simple, the religious guys on the 50th floor believe god is the answer to everything, the cultists believe technology is superior.”
Hilda looked around in awe as she slowly grinned.
“Could I find somebody or something to build the cannon with the blueprint I found last time?”
“Yeah, just one small problem.”
“What?”
“The guide’s ‘update patch’ made it so the cannon is a hell of a lot more expensive.”
“Oh,” Hilda said monotonously.
They continued down the cave which was now closer to a futuristic tunnel before ending up in a room with a cultist dressed in the same dark robe but with a tinge of red to it, the cultist originally leading them now waiting outside.
“Welcome,” He said enthusiastically but not in a fanatical way.
“Hello…?”
“Ah. You must be confused about why you’re here.”
“Actually, no. I just want to know what the worshipping is about,” Hilda answered instantly, pointing towards the cultist waiting outside, now bowing in their direction, completely prostrating themselves.
“...”
“I suppose you could consider them over-enthusiastic.”
“And the reason they are ‘over-enthusiastic?’ You guys are higher level, even if you aren’t stronger than me due to my skills.”
“Now, that’s the difference between us and the delusional people on the 50th floor, we believe in what could be while they believe in what is, hence why they took 9 people while we took the strongest.”
“So… You intend to believe in me and make me stronger?”

“Indeed!”
Hilda turned to Shila who simply nodded before turning back to the cultist.
“Why not?”
“In that case, I wish you the best of luck… to return alive,” He said, muttering the last bit softly.
“What was that? I didn’t quite get th—”
Hilda got teleported along with Shila to a random land, falling onto the ground as she got back up, sitting beside Shila and intending to stand up but getting interrupted by a notification.
Notification.
You have entered another being’s territory.
Title—demon god.
Your authority is too low to access the being’s name.
Level:???
“What?”
Hilda stared at the notification as she sat on the ground while Shila rubbed her eyes bored and tired before looking at the notification and waking up instantly.
The ground suddenly started rumbling from behind as both of them turned, finding a massive creature made of 8 arms and a singular massive head walking over them.
“What. The. Hell.”
“Hilda, run!” Shila shouted, pulling Hilda up in a hurry as they both ran off.
They looked around at their terrain made of nothing but rocks, and pebbles. The only landmarks being a couple of dead trees and the occasional bones that looked bigger than the cyclopes fought on the 1st floor. The sky itself devoid of any clouds and red in colour with barely enough light for visibility to see into the distance.
“What the hell is this plac—!” Hilda shouted, getting slapped on the back by Shila
“Shut up! Do you want those things to notice us?!” Shila whispered angrily.
“You shouted just now to—” She shouted again, getting slapped on the back again.
Hilda stared at Shila in annoyance as they Shila suddenly noticed something, catching Hilda’s attention as she looked ahead.
“Cave,” Shila muttered as the both of them ran towards it.
As they both ran, they suddenly felt massive rumbling coming from behind again, getting louder at a ridiculously quick speed.
Hilda and Shila both glanced back while running, finding a humanoid creature crawling backward at them, its head tilted upwards till it was looking back; each step of this creature caused the ground to rumble and crack.
“What the fff….”
“That’s gonna be what you turn into if you get killed here.”
They both finally reach the entrance of the cave and they both hit an invisible wall.
“What the hell?!” Hilda shouted, trying to break through but to no avail as her sword got bounced off with more force than she hit it with.
“Open up dammit!” Hilda shouted, continuing to hit the barrier as Shila joined in, punching the barrier, getting more panicked as the creature got closer.
“Well, Hilda. It was nice knowing you?”
They both back up against the invisible barrier, preparing to fight as the barrier suddenly opened up, causing the two of them to fall in, rolling down the cave as they watched the barrier close up in time to prevent the creature from entering, eventually ending up at the end of the cave.
“...”
The two stared at each other in silence, before slowly getting up.
“The reason their cultist wasn’t simply because they used technology,” Shila said, breaking the silence as Hilda stared blankly at her.
A barrier—one much weaker than the one used at the entrance of the cave, suddenly formed around the two of them as they looked around, finding a humanoid creature in the dark as they prepared to fight again.
The creature walked out into the slight lighting provided by the eerily red sky, revealing a demon—a meter long tail, small horns, your typical demon.

“S…Succubus?” Hilda and Shila both muttered in confusion.
“Who are you two?!” She shouted, her hands raised at them, maintaining the barrier.
“Hilda and Shila,” Hilda answered, letting her guard down due to the massive contrast in strength to the creatures outside.
“That’s not what I mean!”
“That’s what you asked, wasn’t it?” Hilda teased, poking the barrier and determining it to be weak enough to be broken through.
The succubus stuttered for a short while before angrily shouting again.
“Why are you two here?!”
“No clue, some fanatics sent us here.”
“Huh, you mean those cultists?” She tilted her head in confusion, contemplating for a moment, letting down her guard as Hida broke through the barrier with a single swing of her sword, using some mana and sword qi.
“Huh?! Ho—!” She said in a panicked manner, attempting to put another shield up as Hilda teleported behind her, pinning her to the ground as she struggled.
“I’ve got a couple of questions, I do hope you can answer them.”
“What makes you think I’ll do so?!”
“Because you’re a coward who has been hiding in a cave,” The succubus opened her mouth to argue back again but closed her mouth again, finding no refute.
“Fine…” She muttered reluctantly.
“Good, first question. Do succubus like se—-”
“Shut up!” She interrupted, feeling embarrassed.
“The others may, but don’t lump me in with them!” She shouted, starting to struggle again.
“Hey, am I really at fault for thinking that about you guys when that’s a common stereotype?”
Hilda contemplated for a moment after listening to herself before turning to Shila who was looking down on her with an exaggerated joking look of disappointment.
“...”
Hilda glanced back down at the succubus.”
“Sorry?” She said sheepishly.
