Chapter 63. Selfish...

After a whole month, another 30 layers of shield around the kingdom and much dedication from Anise, the prototype of the weapon was finally created without being non-cost efficient.

“Finally!” She shouted from the top of the castle, her eyes with dark circles, evidence of her sleep deprivation along with a disheveled appearance.

  “My lord!”

Anise started teleporting all around the walls, trying to find Xania before giving up.

  “Huh? Where is she?”

Anise kept searching, eventually giving up as she teleported back to the bedroom to rest, getting irritated as she arrived.

“Oh, so that’s where you were,” Anise muttered, walking up to Xania who was sleeping carefreely on the bed.

  “Nuisance.”

Anise tied Xania’s tail to a drill-like piece of equipment she made before turning it on before she let go of it, allowing it to pull itself towards Xania, wrapping her tail around itself as a result.

  “Not strong enough?”

Anise turned the strength of the drill up as it pulled some of Xania’s skin connected to her tail in too, causing Xania to wake up due to the discomfort.

“What's that feeling?” She muttered, still half-asleep as she rubbed her eyes.

“Hey,” Anise said, causing Xania to turn to Anise, taking in her wearing appearance for a moment.

“Oh! Hi?” Xania glanced away guiltily, pulling the drill off her tail, causing it to break in half due to using too much strength.’

  “Hi.”

Anise forced somewhat of a dark smile on, grabbing Xania’s tail.

“While I was working this was what you were doing huh?” She tightened her grip, her face slightly twitching in irritation.

“Sorry?” Xania said, her eyes darting in every direction that Anise wasn’t directly in.

Anise sighed, letting go of Xania’s tail.

  “I’m done with the prototype.”

  “Oh, good job!”

Xania prepared to return to sleep as Anise grabbed her tail and tugged it roughly.

“Fine fine, I got it. No sleeping.”

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“I got another thing to report, so could you ‘PLEASE’ listen to this dear request of mine?” Anise said, her tone commanding, no longer being bothered to force a smile.

  “Fine…”

Xania yawned as she sat on the side of the bed.

“I also did some investigation into the weird cyan and red-haired women. Apparently, Dragrove has a solution. The dragons have a diviner.”

“Like the humans with a weird orb?”

  “Well… yea. But I doubt they're a charlatan.”

  “Whats a ‘charlatan?’”

  “...”

“My lord, you’ve been here for almost a whole year and yet you havn’t caught up on english?”

“I haven’t had time,” Xania lied, ignoring Anise’s gaze.

“A fake,” Anise explained, deciding not to argue.#

  “Oh, I knew that.”

  “...”

“So, when are we going to visit?”

“Couple of weeks… Get yourself ready. Including your manners and improving your vocabulary!”

Anise teleported away angrily, deciding to assign Xania a teacher without her knowledge.

  (}-----The next day-----{)

“Not again… Why do I have to do something like this again?”

“If not for promising to leave me alone for another month I wouldn’t have even accepted this…”

The door swung open while Xania was sitting on the side of the bed.

“Oh, Anise, your back… what are you doing here?”

Xania stared at the elven queen as she entered, closing the door behind herself. Their eyes meeting each other as the queen sighed, walking in without a single word with a hand bag, sitting beside Xania and placing her bag on the floor.

“What… What are you doing here?”

“Anise had asked me to come and help you…”

  “With?”

The queen pulled 3 books out of her handbag—A children’s storybook, a teenager’s literature book, and an adult's storybook.

“So, choose which to read first.”

Xania stared at the queen who stared back without any signs she was joking as Xania awkwardly pointed to the children’s storybook, earning her a sigh from the queen.

  “Fine…”

The door suddenly swung open again as Elvia entered, Ella following behind.

“Hey, I need to tell you something,” Elvia said before noticing the queen.

“I suppose it could wait till later.”

She quickly left as Xania wanted to stop her but couldn’t do so in time.

“Let’s start,” The queen passed the book to Xania as Xania stared at her.

“What? Need me to read it for you or something?”

  “It's… not in English.”

  “Huh?”

The queen took the book back before quickly checking the other two books.

“Oh. It’s in ancient elfish language.”

  “I’ll teach you… I guess.”

The queen went behind Xania as she passed the book back, teaching her word by word, Xania fidgeting nervously the whole time due to the close proximity.

  “Stop fidgeting, it’s annoying.”

  “Then give me some space?”

“No, that’ll make my life harder.”

The queen kept teaching Xania as she finally managed to read a couple of words.

  “Finally!”

“Alright, I’m done, thanks for the help.”

The queen teleported away with the help of Xania to get through the shields as Xania waited on the bed. Anise eventually entered after a short while, her appearance now fixed except for her sleep deprivation.

“So, I heard you managed to learn some new words?”

  “Yep!”

Xania started trying to speak some of the words she just learned as Anise stared at her for a moment.

  “Repeat that?”

Xania repeated it, slightly annoyed she had to do so.

“My lord. What language is that?”

  “Ancient elvish.”

  “...”

“You were supposed to learn English… Are you trying to insult the dragons by purposely speaking in a language they don’t understand?!”

  “Oops?”

Anise climbed onto Xania’s lap, placing her hands on her shoulders.

  “I’m teaching you tomorrow!”

  “Ok, ok!”

Anise moved her hands to Xania’s neck—a silent threat.

“I’ll goddamn kill you if you don’t cooperate. O.K?”

Xania quickly nodded as Anise got off her lap lying down on her side of the bed, covering herself with the blanket, and going to sleep, her tail purposely taking up the whole space, not budging even as Xania tried to move it.

“Selfish,” Xania muttered softly, earning her a swat from Anise’s tail.
