021. Battle

The warriors cshed, steel ringing as sparks filled the battlefield. Spells of every color and shape soared through the air alongside arrows, while golden essence barriers flickered across the chaotic front lines.

The Warhorns rampaged through the enemy ranks, trampling soldiers beneath their massive cws. Blood spttered, and screams rose in a twisted, discordant harmony of war.

Ethan watched in silence, his mind racing even as the battle unfolded before him. Nearby, Michael hurled massive boulders with his ability, sending soldiers flying.

Jason leaped into the fray, his staff glowing red as he smmed it down, shattering bones with each strike.

  The sughter began.

The death toll climbed rapidly, accompanied by the relentless cmor of steel and dying wails.

“Ethan! Take down that Warhorn!” Michael shouted.

Ethan pushed off the ground, leaping high into the air before activating Blood Ssh.

A crimson arc tore through the air, striking the beast's side—but the wound wasn’t deep enough to cripple it.

The Warhorn reared back and let out a furious howl before lunging, swiping at Ethan with its massive cws.

Ethan met the strike head-on, raising his greatsword to block. Sparks erupted as the impact sent a tremor through his arms, forcing him back a step.

  ‘Strong. Really strong.’

The beast snapped its jaws at him, trying to bite down, but Ethan reacted instantly—kicking off its leg and unching himself away.

An arrow whistled through the air, piercing straight into the Warhorn’s skull.

  A second ter—boom!

The head exploded in a shower of blood and bone.

“Watch yourself, dumbass!” Lisa called out, already nocking five more arrows.

Ethan nded, rolling to absorb the impact before rising to his feet. He barely had time to catch his breath before another Warhorn charged straight at him, its heavy footsteps shaking the ground.

Lisa’s arrows rained down, but this one was smarter—it twisted its body mid-charge, letting the projectiles gnce off its thick scales.

Ethan cursed, gripping his greatsword tighter. His muscles ached from the previous fight, and his essence reserves were already running low.

‘Damn it. I can’t keep spamming Blood Ssh.’

The Warhorn lunged, swinging a cw. Ethan barely managed to dodge, feeling the rush of air as the attack grazed past his shoulder. He countered with a downward ssh, aiming for its exposed fnk.

  Cng!

The bde struck but failed to cut deep. The Warhorn’s hide was like steel.

The beast retaliated with terrifying speed, twisting its massive frame and smming its tail into Ethan’s ribs.

Pain exploded through his body as he was sent flying, crashing through a broken barricade. His Vital force being quickly used t? heal his body.

Coughing, he pushed himself up. The Warhorn charged again, relentless.

Before it could reach him, Michael leaped from the wall, his rapier glowing with golden essence.

“I got this one!” he shouted.

Michael nded with perfect precision, his sword fshing as he sshed across the beast’s eyes, blinding it. The Warhorn howled in fury, thrashing wildly.

  “Ethan, now!”

Ethan gritted his teeth, ignoring the pain. He lunged forward, activating Crimson Swordsmanship. His movements became sharper, faster—his bde an extension of his will.

He ducked under a filing cw, then stepped in, sshing across the Warhorn’s throat. Blood sprayed, the creature gurgling in pain as it stumbled back.

Lisa finished it off, an arrow piercing straight through the roof of its mouth. The beast went still.

Ethan exhaled heavily, his entire body burning from exhaustion.

But there was no time to rest.

Another wave of enemies was already closing in.

From the wall, a soldier screamed, his voice carrying above the chaos.

  “They’ve broken the eastern gate!”

Michael cursed. “Damn it! We have to fall back!”

Ethan clenched his jaw, gripping his sword tighter.

  The battle was just beginning.
