Chapter 14: Worried For Her Future...
Carma: “…” “Obviously, Celia didn’t know about her attire having high level Healing Magic enchanted into them. Which means… she willingly sacrificed her hands for us, even though we’re strangers…” She scoffed in her mind, angry at herself for not noticing the attack, letting Celia get grievously injured to protect Carma and her maid.
To them, this was Celia showing how blatantly self-sacrificing she already was. Despite being a gutter rat, Celia expressed not a hint of it. There wasn’t even a slight hinting of her being selfish or doing this for gains from the princess.
The young girl had purely acted out of kindness, something which Carma always saw in the people who didn’t truly ever live long. Only meeting a few days ago, she already saw Celia as a dear friend. If they survived this… Carma planned on beating these foolish notions out of Celia with care and attention. Survive… being the key word here.
Herm: “Princess Carma… I am impressed.” He said, flying down from the sky, landing right in front of them.
Carma: “Oh, how so?” She replied with a scoff, drawing her weapon.
Herm: “I put a lot of Mana into that slash, but not to the point where it was noticeable. By all means… you should have died without even being aware of how it happened.” He praised, honestly prepared to clap.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Carma: “…” “So… I wasn’t just being careless. Celia truly is special, with her battle senses being an innate talent.” She secretly thought with a sigh.
Herm was the prince of the Altara Empire, which was many miles away from this location. Coming to the kingdom of Reri for fun, he fell in love with princess Carma almost right away.
From this, he proposed a marriage between him and Carma, making an alliance with his empire, and the relatively small in comparison, kingdom of Reri. Unexpectedly, both the king and Carma rejected this, angering him. In his mind, being insulted like this… meant that Carma must die.
Carma: “Lord Herm… please leave Celia out of this.” She requested, biting her lip.
Carma: “Who? Ah, that little girl there? Sure, sure. I don’t mind.” He agreed with a haughty laugh.
Lem, Carma, And Celia: “…”
Carma: “Run along now, young one. This is a matter for adults, not children. The capital city is only a few hours away. You have to walk past me, and then just continue on the road without a care in the world.” He added with a shooing gesture.
The princess urged Celia to leave, and after both Lem and her did so quite a few times, Celia nodded in agreeance.
Celia: “Please, you two, survive…” She said with a warm, worried tone, before then leaving their sides.
Relief then washed over the two, outwardly happily sighing that the young girl could survive. Though, as Celia walked closer and closer to the man, she felt that something was off…
Herm: “Hah! I don’t know her, or what she is to you, but killing this lass will surely anger you into being foolish during our fight, Princess Carma!” He exclaimed with a crazed look and tone.
In pure terror, Carma felt her world turn into slow motion, as she watched the prince slashed his sword at Celia, a Magic attack soon following, surely going to kill Celia then and there…
