  Chapter 19: Confusing Aftermath.

  Shatter!

Herm was now dead, but the happy scene of survival ended before it even began. A bracelet on the prince’s wrist shattered, sending a wisp of Mana away from their location. His body went with it, in fact…

Neither Carma nor Lem could stop it from leaving, mostly due to its speed. The princess knew what it was, as well…

Carma: “His Life Bracelet was destroyed…” She said, angrily gritting her teeth, realizing her mistake.

Celia: “Life Bracelet?” She repeated with a head tilt.

Lem: “Most nobles wear them. Such an item breaks upon the death of the wearer, before then sending the memories of their last moments prior to them dying, and their body, to the next of kin.” She explained in her charge’s stead.

  Celia: “…”

Luckily, Life Bracelets also collect and show what led up to the wearer’s demise. So, at the very least, Carma and Lem couldn’t be instantly claimed to be murderers of the Felta Empire’s sole heir.

Celia: “Then… won’t we be in danger?” She assumed with a scared tone and expression.

Carma: “Killing a prince… let alone a sole, highly praised heir… yes, we’ll be in danger.” She answered with a grim tone.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Lem: “Please don’t scare her like that, My Lady. Lady Celia, it will take a few months for that wisp to make it to their empire. After all, such Magic is quite slow.” She added with a coaxing tone.

Carma: “…” “Lem… I was trying to get her more afraid, so that she’ll spend longer in the castle…” She thought with a sigh, as her plan was foiled.

With such a delay, this gives Carma more than enough time to secure her safety. Before the Felta Empire can call for her arrest, the princess can just place her memories of this event into a Viewing Crystal, many of them, and spread the truth everywhere.

  A Few Hours Later.

Solemnly, as their group was all exhausted by today’s interesting events, the three walked to the capital city. With Celia’s convenient storage ring, neither of them even looked like they almost died…

Carma: “Lady Celia, we will be safely behind the city walls in just an hour, okay?” She informed, coaxing her savior.

Celia: “Okay…” She said with a yawn.

Celia was still young, and, from all that happened, could now barely keep her eyes open. If it wasn’t for the young girl’s bravery, the princess and her dear maid would have died by Herm’s hands. So, the two nobles, uncaring of Celia’s lack of status, now treated her even better than they did before.

Lem: “Ah, she fell asleep.” She mused with a giggle.

Carma: “I am impressed that she can sleep so soundly, after just killing a prince in self-defense…” She replied with an interested tone.

Lem: “My Lady… she is so light, and small. We need to make sure to feed her well.” She seriously proposed.

Carma: “We will, we will! A Level 1 just killed a being who was almost Level 400… Of course, we must align ourselves with Celia, and ensure a long and steady, positive relationship with her.” She agreed in reply, not caring about concealing her agenda from her trusted aide.

Practically right after Celia replied, her mind gave out, causing her to go to dreamland. Lem had been carrying Celia like a princess for an hour now, as she slowed down her walking pace too much, yawning nonstop. And, in the end, Celia fell asleep in the warm embrace of a busty maid…
