  Chapter 33: Royal Frustrations.

Maid: “Madam, Princess Celia has been spotted wandering around her city.” She informed.

Rien: “My assassination attempt seems to have failed, then. Truly… do I not have any useful people around? Herm… that fool.” She replied, rubbing her aching head in frustration.

Unbeknownst to the world, and Herm himself, he wasn’t actually Rien’s birth child. Rather, he was just a shield for the true heir.

The prince, dying like this, was far too early, leaving the Empress’s head in great pain. On top of dying, the man even did such blatantly inhuman acts, and failed as a warrior in a foolish manner.

If Rien didn’t attempt to at least try to silence his killer, she’d feel that her pride had been stepped on far too much.

Maid: “Madam, a letter has arrived.” She informed once more, after taking an envelope from another maid, who came and went with great speed, seemingly afraid of something.

Rien: “Oh? I am not in the mood… Let’s leave it for later.” She brushed off, not even trying to figure out who sent her that letter.

Maid: “Madam… it is from your daughter.” She shakily added.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

  Rien: “…”

Quickly snatching the envelope from her maid, Rien frantically opened it up. In doing so, she got a paper cut, but Rien didn’t care about it.

While she unfolded the letter, shaking more than her maid just was, a different maid silently healed the small cut. After finally taking in the words on the paper, the Empress sighed deeply.

Rien: “Prepare for my daughter’s arrival.” She sternly ordered.

Maid: “How long until she returns, Madam?” She asked, shaking further.

Rien: “Two months, at the latest. She said that I somewhat failed in dealing with Herm, but it isn’t a problem.” She answered, laying her head down on her regal desk.

Once she replied, the maids noticed all life leave their Empress’s eyes. This confused them, as the woman just said that her scary daughter, the true heir of this empire, wasn’t upset.

Maid: “Madam… why are you so depressed?” She asked, actually concerned for her liege.

Rien: “She… My daughter… she said that, Herm dying was okay, and out of my control. I just didn’t raise him correctly… But sending an assassin after Princess Celia was a horrid move, and punishment will be given to me for doing something so reckless and pointless.” She replied, holding back tears.

  Maid: “…”

A Different Maid: “P-punishment?! Madam… perhaps you should… offer whatever possible to apologize to Princess Celia?” She proposed, shivering before she spoke.

Rien: “No, she forbade me from doing that, saying I’d only know how to make it worse.” She weakly denied.

  All The Maids Here: “(~OAO)”

In the end, the punishment wasn’t any too extreme, but those that have experienced the Princess’s… unique form of punishing those who did wrong, or messed up, wasn’t… something that anyone who experienced it would ever wish upon their worst enemy. Let alone their always regal and proud Empress, Rien…
