  Chapter 8: Digging For Info.

Tin: “Either way, little Celia, you should keep to yourself when they board.” He sternly advised.

Celia: “Why’s that? You mentioned this before we departed… are their identities special?” She curiously asked, Tin accidentally giving her the chance to ask her question.

Tin: “No, but the ones that do this… are always nobles. Sure, you probably are one as well, but, as such, you’re likely aware of how… particular nobles can be, yeah?” He replied, awkwardly.

  Celia: “( o_o)”

Frankly, the main reason why (though he mostly always nice) Tin is treating Celia so well… is because he had mistaken her for a noble. Celia’s attire only added to the image of a noble family’s daughter, who wished to go out and become an adventurer.

He has seen many like this before, so this assumption wasn’t one that Tin spent long on coming to. Now, Celia was feeling off, but, the young woman knew that denying it was pointless. Midas had decked her out in such wonderful clothing… it was foolish to even attempt to do that.

  Neigh!

The carriage then made an abrupt stop, making Celia almost fall and hit her head on the carriage’s wooden floorboards. Luckily, she quickly stabilized herself, preventing any injury.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Tin: “Celia! Bandits…” He informed, nervously.

Celia: “Okay, I’ll deal with them.” She replied, confidence in her voice.

Stepping out of the carriage, Celia was… surprised, to say the least. Rather than ruffian bandits, though they tried their best to look the part, the group that stopped their carriage… were clearly not normal bandits, or bandits at all.

Bandit Leader: “A little girl?” He said with a confused tone. “Did we get the wrong carriage? It can’t be… it bears the logo of Rever Trading. Could their escort really be so… worthless?” He secretly thought, unsure of what to do next.

Celia: “Excuse me, but for what reason would there ever be… for such skilled bandits to attack us? Surely, you know who this carriage belongs to, yes?” She asked, not backing down in the least.

Bandit Leader: “Child, it’s like this… You see, we only wish to capture those you and the driver are harboring.” He calmly explained, not willing to harm a random child, let alone one that seemed to be a noble.

Celia, again, wasn’t a fool. Since she fully grasped what Tin told her, Celia was quite certain that this group likely wished to kill, or capture, her soon-to-escort-targets.

Celia: “Apart from Mr. Tin, I, and cargo, there isn’t anyone, or anything, else onboard, Mister.” She spoke, lazily twirling her hair.

Bandit Leader: “…Can we check?” He requested earnestly.

Celia: “Sure, but only an unarmed person can check, please.” She replied with a compromise.

Bandit Leader: “How come?” He confusedly replied.

Celia: “Mr. Tin is still a person whom I must protect. As such, allowing anyone with the potential to hurt him… would be contrary to the quest that I took.” She answered seriously.

Tin: “…” “Damn… being protected by a child. Luckily, even she notices that… these aren’t really bandits.” He thought with a relieved tone.

Looking to his left, the bandit leader ordered a squire to place his sword down on the ground, and go check the carriage. After all, his mission was to capture those two, not kill them. Thus, the young man walked to the carriage…
